Minuteman leader details stance to county Republicans

Chris Simcox told Yavapai County Republicans this past week that he helped create the Minuteman movement after seeing paramilitary-style escorts alongside caravans driving through the Organ Pipe National Monument in 2001.

When he asked monument and Border Patrol officials what was going on, they said the caravans were drug dealers and Simcox should just look the other way, he related.

Today, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps has approximately 40 chapters in 39 states, said Simcox, who is a frequent commentator on the Fox News channel.

Simcox told a packed audience at a Yavapai Republican Men's Forum luncheon in Prescott that he didn't come to talk about immigration.

"That's not our focus," he said. "Our focus is why we have illegal immigration: unsecured borders."

It's the biggest national security problem this country faces, and it's not a racial or political issue, he said. Columbian, Mexican and even Russian drug dealers rule our southern border, he said.

"People are dying while this debate is going on," including illegal immigrants, he said.

The Minutemen, which he called the "nation's largest neighborhood watch group," has spotted and reported nearly 13,000 illegal immigrants to the Border Patrol, he said.

The Minutemen also have built nearly 10 miles of border fence that's styled after Israel's Gaza Strip fence, with four layers of razor wire and fences, he said. The group has hired a contractor to help because it's having trouble recruiting volunteers during the extreme June heat.

The fence has cost approximately $300,000 per mile, he said. Considering the U.S.-Mexico border is 1,980 miles long and less than 300 miles now have a fence, it would cost about $510 million to finish the fence, he estimated after his speech. That's only half of what the federal government spends each month in Iraq, he said.

The Minutemen want a fence along the entire border, along with 30,000 to 40,000 National Guard troops that can guard the border instead of just doing support work as they are now, Simcox said.

Simcox drew a standing ovation at the start of his speech and several loud episodes of clapping. The Republicans didn't cheer, however, when he mentioned that he left the party and registered as an Independent to make a statement about how he disagrees with Bush administration policy. Some in the audience clapped when he said Bush and others are wrong to seek to reward illegal immigrants for breaking the law, by offering them a path to citizenship.

The U.S. Senate put forth a bill to make Bush happy, not citizens, he said. He said Arizona House Bill 2577 included too many parts and officials should focus first on securing the border.

About a half-dozen Minutemen attended Simcox's speech.

"You name it, I've seen it," said Chino Valley resident David Jones, a line boss for the Minutemen on the border. He's seen plenty of trash and dead bodies since he joined the group last year, he said.

"They don't come to this country to benefit our country, they come here to take from this country," he said.

Simcox said he co-founded the Minuteman Project with Jim Gilchrist, and now his group focuses on border activity while the Project group focuses on immigration issues.

See my post #11. I am sorry, but the Border Patrol takes it's orders from whom? From the guy who is for open borders.

Agents have been convicted and imprisoned for helping the drug and human smugglers. But you find it inconceivable that they would cut a fence! Talk about denial!

Yes and Simcox is a convicted law breaker so he may have cut the fence himself using your logic.

Are there any articles or news stories available about the 10 miles of fence?

They must burned up in the heat building this thing.....

I can't imagine the Border Patrol telling anyone to look away.

We have had BP agents tell us if we see a line of people dressed in black, or a suspected load of drugs, to get out of the area for our own safety, then call BP.

He was arrested and plead guilty to carring a gun in a national park. It is public record. BTW, did you know that he declared war on Mexico? Tell me he isn't a nutcase

From: Chris Simcox -- Civil Homeland Defense

CHD received information yesterday morning (Tuesday) that most field Border Patrol agents were being called in to increase security at the port of entry stations. CHD members held an emergency meeting and have decided to fill in for the government and help our friends, neighbors and countrymen, again. Yesterday, I spoke with a Mexican news agency and issued a warning that all illegal entrants attempting to breach our border during a time of war in which National Security is at a critical level would be ignorant and unwise. I stated that all illegal entries would be treated as enemies of the state and will be detained and held in contempt of invading the United States of America.

I have sent this message to Governor Napolitano and to Border Patrol's Tucson sector headquarters and alerted supervisors that once we enter war with Iraq, CHD will deter, detain and apprehend anyone who attempts to flee a CHD citizen volunteer. All illegal invaders will be detained until Border Patrol agents arrive to transport them back across the border. We will humanely supply them with water, food, blankets and medical attention to the best of our abilities.

Since our government officials have basically notified the world that the border fence is not being patrolled, it is now more important than ever for citizens to rise to the occasion and fill a void in National security.

CHD volunteers will now patrol the border with over 100 fully armed Citizens who consider themselves members of the unorganized state militia; we have the legal right and moral obligation as per our Arizona State Constitution and Federal Constitution and our respect for American citizens.

Our intent is to send a strong message to the world that we will stand defiant to invaders and protect the borders of our country.

A message to the world: Do not attempt to cross the border illegally; you will be considered an enemy of the state; if aggressors attempt to forcefully enter our country they will be repelled with force if necessary!

Chris Simcox

Ok Here is your  "nearly 10 miles of border fence that's styled after Israel's Gaza Strip fence, with four layers of razor wire and fences,"  I don't see any to the trenches as indicated by his much distributed "diagrams"  So far I figure chris has  walked off with about $500,000.00 in donations.  A large percentage of which go to the company that has "managed" chris since the begining, a promotion corp in New York.

According to direct observations from American Border Patrol... ABP estimates that the five-strand barbed wire fence is 2.5 miles in length.  Here is the photo available from their website. http://www.americanpatrol.com/ABP/PHOTO-OF-THE-DAY/060613.html

I don't see any four layers of  razor wire.  I do not see any trenches.  I see a plain old barbed wire fence that is being built with volunteers that chris is getting $38.00 per FOOT.

If you want to donate to The Minuteman Project or have any of your donation money go to the actual Minuteman Project go to THE Minuteman project itself.   http://www.minutemanproject.com/

If you want to Donate directly to the field operations that are going to go face to face with the folks in Laredo, you can donate directly to the Texas Minutemen as they are the only ones to date (since the original project) that actually GO TO THE BORDER and get in the face of the illegals, the mexican army, the smugglers, etc.  That is why Texas Minutemen have a direct endorsement of Mr Jim Gilchrist of the Minuteman Project and he is teaming with them to conduct The Minuteman Project in the Laredo area.

At one point, Simcox was arrested by a ranger at Coronado National Monument for possession of a firearm in a federal park. Convicted for a misdemeanor weapons violation, he was sentenced to probation.

Not so much that as Chris is still attached at the billfold with that Diener, Diever or Denier (sp?) Corp. and Gilchrist told them to stuff it. Also, Gilchrist is actually working on promoting The Minuteman Project goals.

Chris is working on promoting the chris-simcox fund, MCDC. These are two VERY different operations.

Texas Minutemen were lucky enough to be founded by original Minuteman Project volunteers that were running the heart of the project, the Communications Center, which morphed into the control center for the project (along with the Medical Bay and most of the housing) there in the dorm of the Miracle Valley Bible College is where most of the project core stayed, including Jim Gilchrist. Interestingly, Chris was never there the entire time I was at MVBC.

So when we (COMMS) went back to Dallas and formed Texas Minutemen, we would from that point never have anything to do with chris or his org.

I can't wait to get my hands on the book coming out in July. There is gotta be a lot of "stuff" that I just did not see because we were sooo busy. I was there from 4 days before the start of the project and for the first five days of the project. At that point the COMMS Center was running smoothly and had a life of it's own.

Was it Simcox's branch that endorsed the independent over Bilbray in California?

Nobody is stronger than Bilbray on the border issue, so when MM endorsed the also ran to siphon votes from Brian, I knew we were watching a Larry Klayman/Judicial Watch tactic.

Have you been a baaaaaaaad boy tonight?
