When I had my college master's graduation, (state college), the speaker told us how bad the police were to black people, how they beat them, and how the black people were oppressed, she droned on and on, and an uplifting cermony, on MOther's day. Here in WI, That professor from Colorado, was paid by state funds to talk at a state funded college about how the survivors on 9-11 deserved it. But, mention God, and you're banned.
That is disrespectful of the audience. Of course, I assume the audience felt free to boo, hiss, catcall, etc. and drown out the speaker. It goes both ways.
I'm annoyed anytime somebody tries to use a platform to spout off on subjects that aren't germane to the event. I view it a infringing on the listener's property rights -- their time is valuable, they sacrificed it to attend an event that had a specific purpose, and the speaker is cheating them out of their time whenever they go off-subject.
