Story says they cut her off as soon as she mentioned God. Doesn't sound like they 'reacted' to her 'slap in the face', sounds more like they were sitting at the ready, waiting to slap HER in the face in public.
BTW, throughout American history our bravest forerunners have shown us that the best way to change unfair, unconstitutional laws and policies is to disobey them.
