Yep. I was there on business in the early 1990's just after they drained all the canals and refilled them with dredged white sand to clean them up. Too many people living on sampans dumping directly into the water. They were determined to clean it up and made it a crime punishable by public flogging. The water is now the cleanest you can find anywhere. Almost everyone in the country speaks English since they were once a British colony. Very low crime rate since most serious crimes are punishable by death. Low number of repeat offenders.
