Mao Tse Tung had a similar strategy for nuclear war thinking China could survive the first wave with only 400 million casulties.

Mao was very successful with 'human wave' attacks for a few months after Red China entered the Korean war. Then they met General Matthew Ridgeway's 'Meatgrinder' and things changed quickly.

I can't find it right now, but either Zawahiri or bin Laden said in one of their tapes that they had thought about a devastating US response to a future big attack and had decided that the losses would be acceptable. These guys all think alike...no problem if thousands or millions of Muslims die as long as we are made to submit.

North Korea has a similar problem.

Recall post-World Cup 2002 and the naval conflict that soured whatever warm feelings were made for Korea's combined soccer team. Several Koreans sailors (on both sides) were killed because of that clash.

Perhaps NK and Iran are truly being well behaved during the World Cup. Perhaps all of the news examining Iran's nuclear ambitions and NK's missile projects is a way of America saying, "the world might be watching soccer, but we're watching you." The other possible reality is that Iran and NK haven't cooled off any interest in gaining more power and/or effecting oil prices to see their own stock profits rise because of their own malicious criminal influences.
