It's definitely a mid-level low that is spinning counterclockwise.

It's not a repeat of Tropical Storm Allison, but it's very similar.

And as slow as it's moving, dangerous flooding is probable.

Officials at the Shell plant in Deer Park on Monday reported a leak at one of their tanks at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Shell emergency personnel reported the release of a gasoline component from a storage tank at Shell’s Deer Park chemical plant.

Officials said on-site emergency crews applied foam to the tank to minimize vapors.

Meanwhile, the City of Deer Park initiated a shelter-in-place as a precaution for residents and businesses north of San Augustine between Center Street and Georgia.

Deer Park officials said traffic has been closed for east and west bound traffic along Highway 225 from Beltway 8 to Battleground Road.

Shell officials said they will continue to take air readings within the plant and in the community until the response is concluded.

Aside from a noticeable odor, there were no reports of people being overcome.
