Dear Coop,
As you already know, the Diana Irey for Congress campaign is in full swing, and has been generating a buzz across the nation. Diana will be on national television today discussing her campaign against John Murtha. You can watch Diana live today on Fox News at 12:45 EDT.
What: Diana Irey Live Interview
Time: 12:45 p.m. EDT
Where: Fox News with Bill Hemmer
AWESOME! Thanks for the ping, Coop:)
Guess we may as well turn this into a live thread, if you agree.
Unfortuantely, it's with Bill Hemmer. I think Hemmer is in love with Murtha.
That's okay. I'd rather see her challenged than being thrown softballs.
Diana Irey, elected in 1996, is the only woman ever to be elected as a Washington County commissioner. She is now in her tenth year of public service.
Diana has held a number of positions helping to steer the Washington County area toward increased economic growth. She served on the board of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission; co-chaired its Committee to Develop the Former Alcoa building into a regional renaissance tower, served on the boards of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Growth Alliance and Pittsburgh Regional Alliance executive board and co-chaired their business attraction committee.
Appointed by Governor Tom Ridge, Diana served on the Port of Pittsburgh Commission. And she is past president of the Mon Valley United Way.
For these and other endeavors, she was named one of the top 60 Pittsburghers of the year by Pittsburgh Magazine in December 1999 and was honored to be chosen as the 1998 spring distinguished ethics speaker for the Beard Center for Leadership in Ethics at Duquesne University.
Commissioner Irey lives in Carroll Township with her husband Bob and their three children; Victoria (16), Frank (15) and Alexandra (12).
Good! Bill Hemmer or not, Diana needs to use this opportunity to stick it to Murtha and call him to account for his outrageous statements concerning the U.S. military and his absurd "redeployment to Okinawa" plan. She can't pull her punches on this, since it is too important to get this loser out of office...!
Great idea!
Amen to that ;)
BTTT
She hasn't previously pulled any punches re: Murtha. But IMHO Ms. Irey also needs to sell herself, as opposed to just being anti-Murtha (read: American).
Thanks for the ping, Coop. BTW, I should mention that even though my support for Mrs. Irey was originally fueled by disgust for Murtha, if she weren't such an attractive candidate (in more ways than one) I would not have been so enthusiastic.
Does anyone know if there have been any polls taken about this race? Murtha probably is ahead at this point, but November is 5 months away and a lot can change. If Mrs. Irey could pull an upset and unseat that treasonous slug, it would be a huge win for the good guys, and a big morale booster for the troops. I already sent in my $50 ...
BTTT !
No polls to my knowledge. But I'm fairly certain she'd be trailing by a decent margin at this point. But as you say, it's a long way to November. Her campaign is just beginning to roll.
Murtha's "Cut & Run" Comments on Iraq: "there's no progress at all" "it's worse than it was prewar" "we should immediatley redeploy" "War cannot be won on the ground" "I have said it's a civil war" "We cannot win this militarily. Our tactics themselves keep us from winning," |
Murtha's Comments on our Troops: "Would you join (the military) today?," he was asked in an interview. "No," replied Murtha "And I think you're saying the average guy out there who's considering recruitment is justified in saying 'I don't want to serve'," the interviewer continued. "Exactly right," said Murtha "we have become a catalyst for violence" in Iraq Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood." at Haditha "I will not excuse murder, and this is what happened" "This is worse than Abu Ghraib" "Hopefully, this is an isolated incident. But we're supposed to be selling ideas of America, ideals of America, and we're losing that war." "These kind of things have to be brought out immediately," he told "This Week," "because if the Marines got away with it, other Marines might think it's okay." "What they're saying to me is we're stretching the military too thin. The army is broken, and we couldn't deploy to a second front if we wanted to." "The troops don't know what to do. They don't have the direction they need in order to supervise the prisoners," |
