Oswald worked on the Marine base where the U2 ground team was in Japan during the late 50s. Evidence is that he worked the radar on that job. Donald P. Bellisario, the creator of the show Quantum Leap did an episode about the Kennedy assassination in order to let people know about the Oswald he knew when they served together there in the Marines. He believes strongly that Oswald was the lone assassin. The bits in that show about Oswald's bizarre and violent behavior while in the Marines in Japan is from Bellisario's personal experiences.

Did you also know that Oswald defected to Russia, then was allowed to come back? That's one of the bizarre factoids that the conspiracy types show "proves" he must have been working for the government. Why else would they let him into the country? As if Che Gueverra wouldn't have gotten into the country!

Interesting stuff. I remember Oswald going to Russia but not that he defected. If so, that would make it even more bizarre.

Oswald's wife was Russian, if I remember right, and there were numerous rumors of her being a spy at the time.

The unit he served in was MACS-6 (Marine Air Control Squadron 6). I was with that unit in 1967 prior to going to Viet Nam.
