The Democrats may be prepared to go along with some Clintonian pseudo-warmongering -- the desultory lobbing of a few cruise missiles at Slobodan or that Sudanese aspirin factory -- but, when it comes to the projection of hard power in the national interest, the left cannot get past Vietnam.

They only support action when it is not in our national interest! How long have we had troops in the Balkans now? And Clinton deployed the military more than any other CinC in history I believe, and this during peacetime! I despise their hypocrisy and the fact that they despise this nation. I think they're going to get a swift kick in the rear come November.

On the Republican side, some of those antipathetic to Bush were never in favor of liberating Iraq but figure now we're in it we need to win it. Others were in favor but revile Bush for pussyfooting around not just with the insurgents but with the Iranians and the Syrians. Others are broadly supportive of Bush on the war but are furious with him for supporting the No Mexican Left Behind immigration bill. None of these demographics seems particularly fertile soil for the Democratic Party

I really don't know what it is about those pictures but I can't help continuing to laugh and think about how many people are going to get turned off to their cause, let alone embarassed that those people were trying to champion their cause...

And if they had been painted with signs like "Go Bush" or "SUPPORT our troops" and boy could you run with the "support" part, I'd be looking for someplace to hide in emBareAssment.... and I'd have a big sign "They are NOT with me."
