He remained in the Reserves after his discharge from active duty until he volunteered for service in Vietnam in 1966-67, serving as a battalion staff officer(S-2 Intelligence Section), receiving the Bronze Star with Combat "V" for valor in combat, two Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.

That's quite impressive for an S-2 Staff Officer for one year of duty. It would be impressive for a line combat officer as well.

The article states he served 66-67 in Nam. It doesn't say where in VN or what outfit he seved in.

Do you know his outfit? And also did this info come from his released official military records?

More than impressive. . .one might add; given the above. Apparently generated enough curiousity for others to investigate this. . .only have to 'google' to see the pained results.

But of course, it is a 'Conservative' thing. . .

That said, the info I picked up was from 'source watch'. . .had 'bio' etc. I suspect the bio was put together by his own staff. Certainly sounds 'well-crafted'. . .

Also sounds like Murtha challenged the 'Peter Principle' and lost. . .in a manner of speaking. . . Link
