This is so true but no one seems to notice that we are in a Crusade.

Is it just me or did some folks not really read the article? This is happening in Great Britain, not the US

We have lots of FReepers who took the Lazamataz intro to FR classes.
They are "proudly posting without reading the article."

Many Christians believe that real Christians wear no adornment of any kind at any time. Still, I don't recall any particular sect that has ever encouraged "purity rings".

With all respect, you need to get out more. Abstinence, and making a public stand for it, is big in the youth groups I know of. The ring symbolizes a pre-marriage commitment to Christ, just as a wedding ring symbolizes commitment to one's spouse.

"being that Catholocism is the ONLY true Christian denomination on earth"

Just a tad elitist. You have an exclusive club? A corner on the religious market? Do you have such an inferiority complex that you feel the need to feel superior by claiming you are the only true Christian religion? Are you saying all other Christians are going to hell? You must not have a lot of friends except other like-minded Catholics. Now that you've managed to insult the multitude of other Christian religion believers that frequent this website. You win the booby prize. Islam has the same mindset. Everyone else (Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus) are all infidels and the Muslim religion is the one true religion. Guess you have competition. So now we'll have one heaven for Muslims, one for Catholics, and one each for the Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopals, etc. Makes for a crowded sky.

JEWELRY:

• Rings (finger or toe)
• Bracelets (wrist or upper arm)
• Earrings
• Necklaces
• Anklets
• Tiaras and crowns and coronets and circlets

This is very easy. If it appears on my list, it's jewelry. If it doesn't, it's not.

What, I can't even braid my hair?

Sheesh. Let Peter come spend some time in Houston in June, with long damp hair dripping down the back of his neck, and let's see how long HIS hair stays unplaited.

Maybe we should advise these kids to start wearing "purity noserings".

I wonder if school rings are banned too?

Although the school allows Muslim and Sikh pupils to wear headscarves or kara bracelets as a means of religious expression, the purity ring - a small band of silver engraved with a Biblical verse and worn as a declaration of abstinence from sexual relations - is not allowed because it is considered to be jewellery.

I figured the head dress was allowed, but I wondered if jewelry for other groups was permitted as a religious symbol. The bracelet - ok. The Christian ring? Not so much with the ok. Yep, once again a 'Christian' nation shoots itself in the foot.

"My friends and I have had detentions and been taught in isolation for wearing the ring,"

I'd wear it just to get away from the other students.

ROFL. LOL, they should count themselves lucky.

No wedding rings, make-up, or accessories? Are there any females in this group?
