It's definitely unusual to see a criminal accept responsibility. I think the woman's sister should have told him that she would pray for him and that he should see a priest - he has obviously repented. He should still get the death penalty, but his eternal soul is the important thing, and I hope he holds onto his repentance as he approaches death.

It's also ironic that his name is Fell.
I am not opposed to the death penalty but I think it is overused. I think if a person admits his guilt and expresses sincere sorrow that life in prison + compensation to the victim's immediate family is a better sentence than death.
He can spend his life stamping license plates, with his salary going to the kids or widow of his victim.

But, I still think "accidental" is a stretch. A stretch. Uh, nevermind..

"I truly am sorry for my crime. What I did was horrible and wrong. I know the wounds will never heal. If it comes down to it in the end that I do die, I understand that it's no less than what I deserve. I truly am sorry."
Exactly the words I would like to hear from 50% (or more) of the politicians in Washington, D.C.

How does one die of an accidental hanging? I believe the individual was trying to enhance an autoerotic experience with borderline asphyxiation. ISTR there was some hand-wringing about it at the time.
This judge Sessions is, I believe, a Republican nominee, but New England Republicans are just Democrats with more inbred pedigrees (note the profusion of Roman numerals and guys with three last names).
It's hard to do anything about crime when a judge like this dreadful person weighs Mrs King against Fell and Lee and concludes that the criminals are much more valuable -- which is what Sessions did.

Good. Since he understands it quite well, I trust he won’t appeal.

Lee died in prison of accidental hanging? How does one die of an accidental hanging? The same way Abu Nidal shot himself 20 times.

It's was an accident when the prison guards on duty say it was accident, get it?"I was just filling out the paperwork. I haven't decided whether Senor Ugarte committed suicide or died trying to escape."
