Re-elected!
Reagan stamp reissued

Reminiscent of his landslide re-election to a second term as President of the United States in 1984, Ronald Reagan won overwhelming support as the stamp in his honor was “re-elected” in its new 39-cent denomination this week.

“Ronald Reagan’s record is proof that one person, determined and dedicated, can shoulder the greatest of burdens and carry them through to victory — and in his case, even make it look easy,” said Board of Governors Chair James Miller, who dedicated the stamp. Miller served as Reagan’s director of the Office of Management and Budget, and later chaired the Federal Trade Commission.

The Reagan stamp was first issued Feb. 9, 2005, as a 37-cent commemorative stamp.

“Reissuing a commemorative U.S. presidential stamp in a higher denomination is a very rare occurrence,” said Reagan Library Foundation Executive Director R. Duke Blackwood. “Mrs. Reagan is touched that the Postal Service is honoring her husband in this manner.”

The stamp was dedicated Wednesday in Simi Valley, CA.

Left to right: Van Nuys District Manager Kerry Wolny, Reagan Library Foundation Executive Director R. Duke Blackwood,
8-year-old Mitchka Saberi and USPS Board of Governors Chair James Miller. Saberi, a third-grader, wrote an essay on Reagan that was read by Blackwood during the ceremony.

Great honor. Nice stamp too.

What a life, what a legacy.

When this stamp first came out I bought about $90 worth and have been using them ever since. Now I can refresh my supply. The Mint should put him on the dime in place of Roosevelt too.

the post office should adopt a policy that their will always be a first class postage stamp with the gipper.
it's the least this country could do for the greatesst president of the last century.

Better than a dime would be a real honest to gosh 5 dollar coin that has the feel and heft of real money.

Next to George Washington, I'd rank Ronaldus Magnus the greatest President of alltime, but that's my opinion. ;^)

>Put Reagan on the 20 dollar bill. That way liberals will get angry everytime they visit the ATM.

This news will NOT be welcomed by all of the members of the USPS.

I asked about this a few months ago, and from the look on the woman's face behind the counter at the PO, you would have thought I just blew my nose on her pretty blue necktie...shw was insulted that I even mentioned President Reagan...

I'm a Postal employee who voted for Reagan twice. I'm happy to see the stamps.

The new 39-cent issue is not yet available at the USPS website. I just sent them an e asking when they will be available there.
