Then copyrights would last an eternity in contradiction of the Constitution. No thanks, good riddance.
Wow! Letting her money do the talking. A noble deed to protect our troops.
Far more than you will EVER know!!!! Will you call a press conference for me???
I find that amazing, and to her credit. She's no Meryl Streep or Jessica Lange. Good for Cher!
She could possibly be yet another liberal whose eyes have been opened. Best to watch and wait. I think it is a sweet gesture, and if she is visiting wounded guys too, that is very moving. She will hear real stuff from those guys, and one day she will get it.
Putting her money where her mouth is. If Daryl Hannah thought the same way she'd have just bought that garden property instead of sitting in a tree.
I imagine Uncle Sam could take care of this problem with the money they've pissed away on Katrina "victims".
It is good to get our soldiers better equipment. I just hope they do not let Cher sit in on the design phase.
This is encouraging to hear. I would have guessed that Cher would do anything BUT something like this.
Good on her!
My point is, she is taking a positive action to support our troops.
I disagree with Cher politically, and probably in many other ways, but that doesn't negate the fact that this is a positive action.
"Uh, Cher is TOTALLY anti-war, anti-Bush and says Iraq is another Vietnam. Wow, like the US Army cannot afford to equip its soldiers ... but her $130,000 will."
So am I, so are everyone of those soldiers having to fight it. There is no bigger pacifist than the soldier who has to fight and has fought.
Nobody unless they are someone like Saddam are Pro War. But that's not the point. She's made an effort to help and I don't care who you are, 130,000 is no spit in the bucket for any individual.
Her donation is appreciated and it shows that even tho she is a Lib, she at least is not without her compassion for the troops.
I applaud her ACTIONS even tho I disagree with her politics.
He held no animosity toward Cher.
Agreed, this wasn't plastered over the MSM so I don't think it was for publicity. She is a wingnut, but at least she is supporting the troops in a meaningful way, unlike those on the left who profess to be for the troops but do squat about it.
And on the flipside, she gave a fabulous eulogy at his funeral.
I am not saying give the money back. I just don't believe in letting people buy forgiveness. Does this benefit the troops? Yes. Does it inoculate her from all criticisms? No. Think about it this way. What if Michael Moore, Alec Baldwin, Janeane Garofalo, et al. were to donate $130K to the Navy-Marine Corps Fund? Should we instantly forgive them for their past behavior? If Cher offers a sincere apology for her past stupidity, I will be the first to accept it.
Well our government should be getting the equipment that our troops need and not have the citizens doing their job, but this is not the first time that Americans are helping their soldiers with equipment. The Civil War had the same happen on both sides, but it was a different military in a lot of ways.
I'm still waiting for her prediction that the President would round up homosexuals and put them into concentration camps to occur.
The company that makes those is based here in Oregon, so when I saw this piece on my local news yesterday and saw Cher sitting in on the hearings, I was pleasantly surprised! I always thought she was a Hollywood whack job like the rest of them. I guess she's been out of that loop long enough to think straight. I thought it was pretty cool of her.
