Tourism Commission Looks to Woo Gay Couples to Canada Josh Pringle Friday, June 16, 2006
The Canadian Tourism Commission wants to attract same-sex couples to Canada.
The agency has launched an advertising blitz in the United States to woo gay couples to tie the knot in Canada.
If you want to express your objections:
http://www.canadatourism.com/ctx/app/en/ca/contactSubmit.do
I encourage Americans to write as well. You just know American gay couples will use this to get their unions acknowledged by American courts.

Any simple graphics program & then upload it.
Real easy: in this case, download the image of a book cover for the right dimensions & then, in your graphics program, cover it with a photo & two text boxes.
Wait !!! ... if our buddy's listening in, I may just have created a monster - LOL!

When we started the mother of this thread a few weeks ago, another FReeper mailed me to say I was wasting my time. Specifically, Canadians could attack and could be critical of American policy but, they will not tolerate any negative comment about there own situation. Here's a challenge for you Spatso.....
Go through my posts and find ONE, ONE post I've made that bashes George W. Bush.
Just one.

To put an ever finer point on the question, try to find a post made by any Canadian conservative which lumps ALL Americans in with any Stateside leftist or ties them ALL to any negative issue or form of (mis)conduct.
Yet, it's quite easy to come up with a list - albeit a thankfully fairly short one - of brain dead, knuckle-dragging types on FR who habitually do precisely this when it comes to ALL Canadians.

"Go through my posts and find ONE, ONE post I've made that bashes George W. Bush."
I have not looked but I do believe your assertion. I think you can do the same for me and find the same thing. I do not believe I have said a single negative thing about your new conservative government. My primary concern has been the mindset of the Canadian people which I believe to be primarily and resolutely liberal. The implicit criticism is probably more of Canadian FReepers and conservative leaders for accepting that this mindset cannot be more radically and quickly altered. A really simple start would be for people to say "two gay mounties being married in uniform is not good for the Canadian image unless your purpose is to portray Canada as a resolute liberal bastion." If you find I have criticized Canadian conservative leaders as individuals or in their personal capacity than I have committed a grave error and, I would, of course apologize. If, on the other hand, my criticism is of Canadian policy or strategic choices than I think that is fair in terms of any dialog as it would be for you.

Good luck in cleaning up the mess up there. We haven't figured out a way of getting rid of the chronic Leftism in many parts of the US either, especially when a sizeable portion of the population keeps voting in the idjits that allow this stuff to happen.

"No, no, we surrender"
Mrs. Spatso has become more and more concerned by the amount of time I have been spending on FR. I tell her it is a conservative web site discussing political ideas. She is beginning to wonder how the plans for the marriage of gay mounties and Canadian conservative practices in respect of self flagellation can contribute to furthering political discourse.
I have explained to her that Canadians are for the most part very nice people but, at times, they may appear somewhat odd. I have further explained that all Canadians are born with a unique liberal gene, it cannot be reversed, it has to be removed surgically. However, because they have socialized medicine the surgery is not available unless they come to a US medical facility.
Thanks for the laugh. Yesterday was a sad father's day. Mrs. Spatso's Dad died a few weeks ago and my Dad died just a few months before (both WWII vets). All the kids and grandkids came and we had a BBQ and planted trees in honor of their memory. We did the same for our mothers two years ago. Anyway, in the midst of this I read your post and the one from Kanawa and broke into fits of laughter that caused the family to look at me with some apprehension.

"They would be a lot easier to spot coming from Canada, than from Mexico."
I am sorry I did not reply earlier, with all the craziness going on I read the post but missed following up. I try to avoid the cultural and ethnic overtones on the border security issue. As soon as you allow race to enter into the discussion than "race" rather than security becomes the issue. Although the President has been getting a lot of criticism from his right wing base on illegal aliens I think he has been wise to keep the focus on security.

The implicit criticism is probably more of Canadian FReepers and conservative leaders for accepting that this mindset cannot be more radically and quickly altered. We've just elected a conservative minority government by promising a simple, clear and doable agenda.
Harper has promised a free vote on same-sex 'marriage'.
As it stands at this point such 'marriages' are legal.
To make a big issue out of these 'gay' mounties would be futile
and only give them more of the attention they seem to crave.
We have a game plan that will see us in the position to form a majority government.
So far our party has shown remarkable discipline and the loose cannons have been kept under control.
The people are responding and our poll numbers are looking better all the time.
We don't want to be doing this...

But is canada warning that those marriages will not be recognized in the USA? Not even Mass unless they are BOTH Mass. residents.
That Canadian homosexual marriages are not allowed for USA visa purposes?
Is canada so desperate that they need to attract 2% of the population at the expense of family tourism from the other 98%?
This program was not approved to make money for canaduh, it was approved to push an agenda.

"I'm thinking that we're just enabling your procrastination.
Get out and do some yard work."
Comments to GMMAC (above) apply for all the same reasons.
But, I cannot figure out who is in the picture in the upper left hand corner. I must say the two mounties appear to be fine looking boys. Can't help but wonder how J. Edgar Hoover would have reacted to two gay FBI agents marrying.
I am reluctant to make any specific comments on your post for fear of trivializing your creative genius. All I can say is outstanding. Thanks.

Although the President has been getting a lot of criticism from his right wing base on illegal aliens I think he has been wise to keep the focus on security. Must disagree, the President has spoken at length about Hispanic family values, at times in Spanish. Even his absurd straw man arguments are largely race based.
