Yes I have a concern with border security and I am not sure that Canada is doing their fair share.

You seem to be confusing Canada with Mexico!

As a retread, maybe, but he'll just get zapped again.

"Gay Tourism" will turn into "Sex Tourism" quicker than you can say "The Wiggles" or "Booh-Bah".
Then there's the gay marriage issue where they will 'wed abroad' and insist their 'union' be recognized in the US."

I really don't have strong views on the gay agenda. Personally I think gay marriage is a mistake, yet I have no difficulty supporting gay unions. What people do in private is their business. And as long as it is not degrading or exploitive of another person I am not going to get overly agitated one way or the other.
My concern is very simple, I think the gay Canada dialog sucks the energy out of everything else. How can you be a serious player in respect of the border security issues when all that is reported is Canada's plan to recruit gay tourists. Surely it is an image problem for Canada. For example, if you were to get Rasmussen to poll people on three things they knew about Canada you can be certain that the gay agenda would be near the top, right after government administered health care. I think that is a problem, but apparently no one else thinks it a problem.

"You seem to be confusing Canada with Mexico!"

Is it unreasonable to expect more of Canada?

A clever response immediately suggested itself to me when I read the headline. Fortunately I saw that it or something like it had popped up in the minds of everyone else who read the headline and, for once, I avoid redundancy.

I haven't heard of any reports of undocumented Canadians.. then again, I thought Canada and the US were a common travel area, rather like Britain and Ireland.

But I did see a story of an IRA man getting stopped at the Canadian border.

"I haven't heard of any reports of undocumented Canadians"

No but you have heard stories of home grown terrorism in Canada. It seems that only a week ago home grown terrorism in Canada was the lead story in most newspapers everywhere. But the story seems to have disappeared and replaced with stories about Canada that tend to give Canada its soft image.
So, when you say undocumented Canadians, how many would it take to do incredible damage?

Your irritation with me is the direct result of your own rigidity. You realize, of course, if you just simply said I am really unhappy and embarrassed with the way the gay file is being handled in Canada, all my power to irritate you would instantly disappear.

You have no power over me, to irritate, or otherwise.
I simply realize that if the Cr@p that you spew is left unchallenged, some poor souls might believe it.

You realize, of course, if you just simply said....

Why?

To please you?

I am really unhappy and embarrassed with the way the gay file is being handled in Canada,

Freudian slip here?

I'll send a contribution for their plane tickets and to help with a bathhouse membership.

If Canada has that problem, there are plenty of more Western countries with same problems, plenty of AQ operatives here in Ireland (and no doubt getting help from Sinn Fein/IRA).

Perhaps I need to try a different more direct approach. Mr. fanfan are you happy that Canadian government initiatives seem to get lost in the media buzz around gay marriages, gay mounties and now this week's story on the recruitment of gay tourists? Second, do you think the Canadian government should exercise a stronger voice and give clearer guidelines to try and neutralize the excessive media attention placed on the gay Canadian dialog?

Do you really think it is a legitimate conservative option to say we will use the home state of Kennedy, Kerry and Tip O'Neil to legitimate our values?

Our values?

Define 'OUR'.

Our values presumably means conservative values, although I am beginning to believe that those values might be a lot more different than I first thought.

The US/Canada border is very long and barely guarded. I don't doubt Canadians are sincere in their desire to cooperate on border security. But, do you not think Canadians have got to lose this soft image? It is a dangerous world. I am sure Canada has a different message than what we seem to see, but they are responsible to redefine the image consistent with the new world we live in.

Would you call a Mountie 'soft'?

The truth is, no Western country is protecting their borders, I don't see why you should seek Canada out.
