When I graduated from college in 1961, I interviewed for the Foreign Service of the State Department.

I came very close to being accepted and was invited to try again the following year.

But I got a real job...and never looked back.

I cannot imagine what a miserable experience spending even four years, much less forty, in the mendacious and hypcritical State Department environment would have been.

Sometimes, things DO turn out for the best...
