I agree with your observations.
In addition to a "conservative clue" it would help if he "got Christianity." I say this innocently, and without knowing if he attends church, but hope religion guides his choices in the next phases of his life.

Something to pray for. What a difference *that* could make to the world. Unfortunately, I believe he's a victim of liberal protestantism. It's amazing how smart a person can be, and yet so stupid.
