President George W. Bushs job approval rating is out of the thirties for the first time since February and currently stands at 40 percent.
President Bushs approval rating is up 5 percentage points to 40 percent this month, up from 35 percent approval in mid-May. Just over half of Americans disapprove (52 percent).
Much of the increase in support comes from the presidents party. Fully 82 percent of Republicans say they approve of Bushs job performance, up from 71 percent last month and a low of 66 percent in April.
Views are mixed on the larger issue of U.S. military action in Iraq, as 43 percent of Americans say the action will ultimately make the United States safer, but half says no, it will not. These results are similar to those from two years ago when 39 percent said action in Iraq would make the U.S. safer and 46 percent disagreed (June 2004).
On the same day the new government was finalized, it was announced that Al Zarqawi, an Al Qaeda leader in Iraq, had been killed in a U.S. air strike. Here again, most Americans consider this event a victory: 31 percent describe it as a "major" victory in the war on terrorism and 46 percent a "minor" victory.
Even though most Americans describe Zarqawis death as a victory, significantly more people think his death will make no difference in Iraq in the long run (59 percent) than think it should be viewed as a "real turning point" for the war (33 percent).
On the home front, a slim 52 percent majority thinks the United States is safer without Zarqawi. Most Republicans (77 percent) think the country is safer, while most Democrats disagree (62 percent). Among independents: 47 percent say safer, 48 percent not safer.

"There was a lot of news yesterday about arrests of thousands of illegial aliens who had criminal records. Many of them worked at Dulles Airport near Washington."
Waste of time unless catch and release is ended and the border is sealed. But, since neither is on Bush's North American Union agenda and would crimp his efforts to secure amnesty for employers of illegals, I'm not holding my breath that any deserved credit for the improvement in Iraq is going to go far to improve his numbers. But he has only himself to blame.
I suspect that should we find that a terrorist crossed the border or should the illegals become violent next time they decide to take to the streets and shut down our country, no doubt, his numbers will tank. IMO, he's truly let us down. Such a disappointment.
A polling rematch of the 2004 Presidential Election shows that John Kerry leads George W. Bush 48% to 41% (see crosstabs). In the real election, Kerry never held a lead that big in any of the nightly polls we conducted from January 2 through Election Day.
This latest poll is another indication of how much support has fallen for the President since his re-election. The number of voters who call themselves Republicans is also down since Election Day 2004.
President Bush is still trusted by a few more voters than Kerry on the National Security issue. However, the President's advantage is much smaller than it was during the election season--44% now trust the President more while 41% opt for Kerry.
A separate survey found that just 30% of Americans give the President good or excellent marks for handling the situation in Iraq.
Kerry has a narrow edge on economic issues--45% to 40%.
On immigration, 43% trust the President more while 40% prefer Kerry.
Rasmussen Reports is an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information.
Rasmussen Reports was the nation's most accurate polling firm during the Presidential election and the only one to project both Bush and Kerry's vote total within half a percentage point of the actual outcome.
During Election 2004, RasmussenReports.com was also the top-ranked public opinion research site on the web. We had twice as many visitors as our nearest competitor and nearly as many as all competitors combined.
Scott Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Reports, has been an independent pollster for more than a decade. End Quote
So folks, you see it here, Kerry must now be the President. Bush should go back to Crawford, hat in hand, head down. / sarcasm
Can you believe this? I wanted a poll in 1994 on whether folks would voted for Clinton. If you remember, Clinton wasn't doing so good in 1994 but nobody thought about repolling his election. We had an election in 1994 that gave Congress to the party that Clinton didn't belong to, but that was just angry, crank, mean ol' conservatives hs\aving a tantrum.
Whoops, screwed up the formating. Underlining is supposed to end after "end quote".

Your solution is a pipe dream.
LOL, polls are just more evidence that Americans are ignorant on most subjects.
W00-HOO! FORTY PERCENT!!!
Sorry, I tried to get excited, honestly...
I have a dream, that one day sons and daughters...
O, sorry...
(see, I CAN get excited...)
That was so two weeks ago. This conservative is not angry with Bush
LOL! This conservative is... about how Bush and Congress are handling the border.
OK. so we agree to disagree
"This conservative is... about how Bush and Congress are handling the border"
Yep.
My # 1 prority.
You didn't ask me if I would vote for Bush and the Republicans, again. Of course, Bush cannot run for a third term.
However, my point is...
The answer would be yes. The alternative is to give control back to the Democrats.
An important point that most polls like this one miss.
The moonbats already think OBL is dead and stored in a deep freezer somewhere and that Bush, Cheney & Rove are going to thaw him out in time for the elections.
I wish I was making that up, but they do believe that.
FOX is full of S#!T.
If you search their polling results, you will find that of the people polled 42% consider themselves Democrats and only 34% consider themselves Republican. I wonder what their poll would look like if they polled Repubilcans and Democrats equally?
