They have been busy hurling nothing but insults at fellow FReepers. Since when was this tolerated by Free Republic? Insults aren't dialog or discussion.

Unfortunately it's not only been tolerated, in my opinion it's been encouraged. Now that's just my opinion mind you, I don't have any facts to back it up.

But when I see people get banned for being far less vitriolic to others than some of these bozos have been and absolutely NOTHING happens to them, then there's some kind of a wink and a nod agreement going on in the background.

You won't believe this little beauty of an answer by SPP:

Union Local 2544, represents Border Patrol agents and non-supervisory employees in the Tucson Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol, covering most of the state of Arizona. They are the largest local in the Border Patrol. Local 2544 Officers are all Border Patrol agents.

These are the men and women that toil in 100 degree summer heat. These are the men and women that risk their lives every day not knowing what they will encounter. They are the ones that have to live with the deals made in air conditioned offices within the beltway. They are serving on the front lines and have some very strong opinions. Wellccin addition to the facts contained in the blog linked here regarding the administration of IRCA 1986, frontline Border Patrol agents were ordered to immediately release any illegal alien who made an amnesty claim, no questions asked, even though we were routinely uncovering massive fraud with simple field interrogation techniques. The illegal aliens we questioned before this order came down were mostly lying, and we were catching them in lies one right after another. Many had just entered the United States, but falsely claimed they had entered years before so they could gqualifyh for amnesty. One large group was tracked down and apprehended on the Tohono OfOdham Indian reservation about 10 miles from the border (in the middle of nowhere - therefs nothing out there, no roads, and no legitimate/lawful reason for illegal aliens to be there). Two of them had freshly minted gamnestyh cards. When questioned about the glast entryh they made into the U.S. from Mexico, the cardholders claimed they had entered years before and were just gvisitingh the rest of the group (approximately 100 total). Senator McCain Sells Us Out (again) - Senator McCain voted for the Amnesty Bill (S. 2611). Senator McCain has never been a friend to rank-and-file Border Patrol agents. He routinely ignores correspondence from Border Patrol agents and often gives the impression that he is just too big and too important to deal with us. He attempts to undermine our mission at every turn and actively supports the criminals who violate our laws. He always trys to downplay the fact that illegal aliens knowingly and willingly violate our laws, and he is a close ally on immigration matters with Senator Ted Kennedy, who we believe is the biggest disgrace of all time in the United States Senate.

Every day that President Bush and the Senate hold real border security hostage to their misguided amnesty program, thousands upon thousands of illegal aliens continue to flood into the country. Make no mistake, most of them get by us. We are losing this war, and itfs not even close. Contact your senators and congressmen now. Tell them to secure the border and tell them to reject amnesty programs (so called gguest-worker").

Notice that most of those who favor illegal immigration are also major supporters of the old Republicanism -- big business. Insults aren't dialog or discussion.

That has become a common technique for those who don't have facts to back up their positions. They turn to insults, name-calling, character assassination, scorched earth, just like a certain politician and his team of the last decade used so frequently. Many, even on the so-called Right, succumb to employing those Clintonesque techniques, loudly. Look at how many of them ignore and flat-out deny facts, when they are presented with those facts. Yet, their responses are not factually based information, but are name calling, denegrating remarks, character assassination, etc. They attack the poster, not the post.
