I don't get this. I agree that things are looking up for the president, but I don't get the fascination with this trip. In my view, the nature of the trip underlined not so much how well things are going in Iraq, but how dangerous things still are. If things were going great, he wouldn't need to fly in secretly with his staff in flak jackets. It was a good trip, but he's been to Iraq before. I don't see the Iraq trip as a piece of this puzzle.
To me, just my stupid opinion, the reason the president's fortunes are looking up are firstly that arch terrorist Zarqawi is dead. Americans want vengeance done, and Zarq was a nice scalp on the old lodgepole. Second, the immigration debate is pretty much played out. The anti-bush-immigration-plan folks are all cried out. You know how a kid cries and cries and eventually simply runs out of steam and takes a nap? That's the anti-bush-immigration-plan crowd, in my view. Third, the democrats continue to be complete barking moonbats. they are so far divorced from reality that by default bush will do better.
So that's my take. The Iraq trip was fine, but I really don't see it as a huge deal. Maybe it's just me.
how many times did fdr or truman visit germany and japan??
That's the problem. It's "your view". You see the glass half-empty, rather than seeing correctly, that the glass just filled up and overflowed.
It must suck to be you.

Is that you Alan Colmes? I could have sworn I heard him say the exact same thing just a few nights ago.
