Glad you all were there to show support for Ann. The MSM would have gloated all day tomorrow had the lefties dominated the audience and been allowed to boo her when she was speaking. I thought Ann made her points well and presented herself, as usual, in a logical and direct manner.

Carlin's monologue rap was amusing and his statement about being moved to the right by Ann was a good quip. I have to say that Carlin is a veteran of the USAF and worked as a DJ in Wichita Falls, Texas, in the late 50's. He may be a liberal but he's done his service.

Yes... God Bless Carlin for his past...

..and maybe thanks to Drudge and the MSM (are they becoming one? hmm), I was expecting something else from this. Leno makes mucho dinero bashing conservatives. But I was pleseantly surprised by the cheers for Ann. I expected boos & hisses galore.

I wasn't surprised that Carlin was civil and didn't attack Coulter. The MSM were playing up this big "facing off with liberal George Carlin" angle all day, but they forgot that Carlin is an equal-opportunity offender who has had plenty of experience with people condemning him for daring to say things they think he shouldn't have said. He might disagree with Coulter's viewpoint, but I seriously doubted he would side with her critics who want to silence her opinions and ban her books, at least in tolerant, liberal New Jersey.

I also liked his monologue. I'm a comedy writer myself, and I appreciate the craft of it. It wasn't meant to be laugh-out-loud funny, it was more of a satirical poem, and it well illustrated how many pointless, cliched buzz words people use these days and how empty and gaseous they are when you string them all together. Carlin has always done interesting things on the language like that, like his bit about how "shell shock" became "battle fatigue" and finally "post-traumatic stress disorder" because if PC do-gooders can just add enough syllables, the words eventually become meaningless and all the pain goes away.

Thanks... that's good to know about him.
