A few of my friends saw the show.

Said it was about as political as a desk.

Kind of figured as much, Coulter is a solid conservative, but Carlin is more left leaning liberal hating kind of person (if it sounds like a contradiction, it is).

I doubt Carlin wanted to debate Coulter (he wants to promote a movie) and vice versa (she has a book to promote).

Carlin (as my friends describe him) is a "multiple personality left wing conservative", which is a nice way of saying he has liberal points of view, but hates the same folks who would agree with him and loves to bash them too.

People are quick to say "Ann Coulter's brash mouth is just schtick".

Why do people believe that everything that Carlin rails against REALLY upsets him? He's pretty superficial if he really is that angry about some trivial things. I suspect some of his rants are just because, like Andy Rooney and Dave Berry, he needs some "thing" to riff on. Like Jerry Seinfeld's "D'ya ever notice..."
