They held an assembly at my daughter's school this year about the dangers of myspace and similiar sites. I have repeatedly warned my daughter of internet danger- and keep track of what she does online. She said very few of the kids really paid attention to the info they were given and the horrible stories they were told about people molested and stalked over things on the net. The kids don't think it really is a problem- YIKES!
This kinda re-enforces something I've thought recently. Animals are smarter than most people give them credit for, and kids are stupider than many people assume they could possibly be.
Kids at that age feel invincible and it will ever happen to them, only some other poor sucker.
You said -- "She said very few of the kids really paid attention to the info they were given and the horrible stories they were told about people molested and stalked over things on the net. The kids don't think it really is a problem- YIKES!"
That is very true -- that kind of attitude. That's from what I've seen from others in our extended family and how they act. There's no concern for what might happen.
