Cabinet secretary used CDC jet for routine travel

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- A jet leased by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for use in emergencies has instead been used to shuttle the secretary of Health and Human Services to appearances and meetings, a newspaper reported Wednesday.

Maybe so, but it would still be cheaper than $38k per trip. :)

I'm not so sure about that, with the government and contracts these days....

like the MSM some on this board are quick to criticize before all the pertinent facts are known. There's no evidence, for instance that the reported cost, accounted for the cost of leaving the plane unused on the tarmac. Also, some of the trips had to do with an impending emergency, the possible flu pandemic.

During the Clinton years, I once found myself sitting immediately behind the then Surgeon General of the US, Dr. David Satcher, on a Southwest flight. No first class seating on Southwest. Dr. Satcher did not seem pleased to have to sit among the riff-raff.
