Dear Steven Benson, "Editorial Cartoonist":

I am sitting in the smallest room in my house, holding this image of your face, which I printed up from the Internet. Soon I will stand, and put your face behind me.

Semper fi, Steven.

It's worse than a crime, it's a blunder. The cartoon is merely infantile, having neither insight, wit nor humor.

Benson self-identifies as an atheist and is often the target of those who advocate ultra-conservative anti-secular views.

Benson's more controversial cartoons include one that depicts a firefighter carrying an child from the Oklahoma City bombing similar to a well-known photo of a firefighter's futile rescue of 1-year old Baylee Almon. The child in the cartoon says, "Please, no more killing..." to which the firefighter, labeled "Death Penalty Fanatics," replies, "Quit your whining!" The cartoon, published June 11, 1997, angered some firefighters nationwide. Almon's mother called for Benson to apologize for using the image. Benson, however, stood firm even as his paper issued an apology for printing the cartoon.

Benson is the grandson of former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and former LDS church president Ezra Taft Benson.

Late in 1993, Benson publicly left the LDS Church after claiming that its leadership was covering up his grandfather's senility and allowing church members to believe Ezra Taft Benson was still in charge of the church's day-to-day affairs.

THIS IS PURE LIBERAL BULLSHIT

I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area. The Arizona Republic is a miserable left wing piece of crap of a newspaper. You won't have much luck calling them.

Besides the links by: Tarantulas #107 and PleaDeal #136

I suggest to also email all conservative local radio hosts in Phoenix, Arizona station KFYI. Conservative radio talk show host "Bruce Jacobs In The Morning" has a running feud going with AZ Republic and I'm sure would give ample air time. Matter of fact, all of station KFYI has been at odds with the AZ Republic rag. Also you can email KFYI Barry Young, and Joe Crummey. Plus email Clear Channel National Radio Talk Show Host Rush Limbaugh. Send an attachment of the drawing made by Steve Benson with your comments to:

Joe Crummey

I too, as a retired USAF Tsgt, am outraged at this desecration of the United States Marine emblem, an emblem made sacred by the blood of scores of valiant and patriotic young Marines, who never lived to benefit from the freedoms earned by them and abused by the unappreciative, treasonous scum that used that freedom to defile the honored emblem of the very ones who made that freedom possible.

God bless you Marines, and simper fie.
