Some years ago an American officer assigned to NATO was sitting with a French officer and a German officer wondering where to go for his next duty posting. He was given a choice between France and Germany

The French officer extolled the virtues of being based in Paris. After a while the German officer piped up "Come to Germany. We have better beer, and every few years we get to visit France anyway"
