Move to Repeal Estate Tax Breathes Its Last Breath
democRATs.org ^ | 6/8/06

Today, Senate Democrats led the charge to block a repeal of the Estate Tax, which would have handed the wealthiest Americans a windfall of nearly $1 trillion over the next 10 years. The Los Angeles Times called the Republicans' failure, "the latest in a string of GOP defeats on issues dear to the party." [Los Angeles Times, 6/8/06]

"Democrats are committed to policies that benefit the American people, not the special interests,” said Democratic National Committee Press Secretary Stacie Paxton. “This bill is just one more example of Washington Republicans’ misplaced priorities and fiscal recklessness. While Republican leaders don't hesitate to invoke budget discipline to justify ending school lunches for 40,000 American schoolchildren and refuse to raise the minimum wage for the nation's lowest paid workers, they are ready and willing to squander resources giving less than one half of one percent of all families a trillion dollar tax break. Republicans in Washington should be focused on reducing their record deficits, helping our valiant troops in harm's way and creating American jobs with good wages. Together, America can do better."

The democRATs are proud of their victory. Note the wording. As usual, they talk about it as if it were their money not the hard-earned assets of the taxpayer.

These jackasses are soooooo proud of the fact they've deprived the economy of one trillion dollars worth of jobs, investments, capital gains, research , development, increased wages, the list just goes on and on.

I hope they're so frakkin happy they could just spit (or continue to spit on the masses)

In one word, never. If we want the RINOs gone, we're gonna have to do it ourselves.

Let me pick on Pandsey "One Termer" Graham as an example. This POS RINO from South Carolina is just awful. He really, really needs to be replaced in 2008. But, will the GOP doing anything to further that agenda? Hell no! They will support Pandsey 100%. Any other Republican that wishes to challenge Pandsey in the primary will have a bruising, uphill battle to fight.

That's why I have pledged multiple times here on FR to bust my tail for whomever challenges Pandsey in 2008.

That's also why I DO NOT give money to any Republican organization. When these groups distribute the cash, the RINOs will get some and I certainly don't want my money used that way. Instead, I contribute directly to the candidate.

RINOs OUT!!

Every time I talk to a Lib, I just ask them what America did before there were all these taxes? They never have an answer.

BTW: the number of estates is grossly underreported due to some classification loopholes.

Any subchapter-S corporation with less than 5 members probably qualifies as a taxable estate under the new rules (excluding 2010).

This is roughly 32 million small and medium sized businesses. Onerous estate taxes on these businesses would adversely effect 140 million people.

"No big deal, eh?"

It really is an amazing concept.

They talk about it as if they would be giving it back when in reality they would not be taking it. And they put that crap in writing!?

I'm amazed, really I am, that so many libs will read that and be taken in by it.

Greed and Envy are two of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Since Americans are no better or worse than any other people on the planet, both these sins are rife among the population.
One of the tenets of Leftism is:
If someone has one dollar more than you it is because someone(the Government) gave it to them, or because they STOLE it. It is never because those someones worked hard to get where they are and deserve to enjoy the fruits of their hard work.
If the government takes back that undeserved benevolence or force the Evil Rich to disgorge their stolen property, the envious hope then the government will bestow its reclaimed largess on the more deserving, who are of course the envious ones themselves. Even if the envious never actually benefit from these attacks on the Evil Rich schemes, they still have their envy satisfied vicariously, since those who have more are dispossessed. This vicarious satisfaction, or the hope for it are one of the attractions of voting Democratic for the envious.

This reminds me of a true story, something that happened to me when I was a kid.

I had six uncles on my dad's side. One day when I was about 10 my Uncle Lynn, a Republican, offered my brothers and me $1 each to rake the leaves in my grandmother's yard. I agreed but my brothers said no. So I raked for about an hour while my brothers went on about their business. When the task was complete I was rewarded $1 for my hard work. I promptly went to the corner store and bought a handful of penny candy. When I returned home with my bounty, the fruits of my hard labor, my brothers asked me to share. I refused on principle and told them had they helped me rake the leaves they too would have candy. About that time my Uncle Willard passed by and saw that I had candy and would not share. He called me stingy and made me divide my hard-earned candy with my brothers who had earned none.

You guessed it; my Uncle Willard was a Democrat.

I guess if a robber decides that my house is too well defended to rob, and decides to rob someone else, all the money I get to keep is a windfall -- a gift from the robber.

Unless you believe that all assets belong to the government, and the amount it decides to let you keep is a matter of policy-- the policy being to maximize government revenues. It is sickening that the only way you can convince some legislators to cut tax rates is to show them cutting taxes can actually increase their total revenue take. (And these are the Republicans). Are we all farm animals, and the government is a farmer seeking to maiximize farm output. Government as animal husbandry, and we are the animals.
