Some 50 Iranians along with an Iranian security forces commander have been arrested by Iraqs security forces in the central province of Diyala, an Iraqi television channel reported.
The arrests were made during a raid jointly by American and Iraqi forces late Sunday in the town of Baquba, 65 kilometres north of the capital, the Salahuddin television station reported.
Those arrested were believed to be behind a spate of kidnappings and murders in an effort to further strain ethnic tensions in Iraq.
They were arrested in one of the towns north-eastern districts. Last week, United States forces killed the Jordanian-born leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi during an air raid in Baquba.
Al-Zarqawi was believed to have maintained close ties with Iran and had fled to there on numerous occasions when U.S. forces were close to tracking him down.

Some 50 Iranians along with an Iranian security forces commander have been arrested by Iraqs security forces in the central province of Diyala, an Iraqi television channel reported. This can't be. We have freepers (armchair generals all) who tell us that the insurgents who don't want us there and that it's the wrong war at the wrong time.

Ahhh, so that's what's behind this recent surge of violence. The scuzzy Mullahs. Turn these Iranian pukes over to some angry Sunnis as a warning to any others that might show up to stir up trouble.

If true, it would show a direct link with Iran. I would wait to hear an announcement from CENTCOM

Could this raid have come from the rubble of Zarqawi's safehouse.

It's been obvious for a long time that Iran is behind a lot (probably most) of the insurgency, but its nice to have 50 peices of solid evidence for it now.

They can't be real freepers if they say that, they must be what I would call officious interlopers...
