The word conspiracy (etymology: "breathing together") has been charicatured by connotations of people sitting around in a back room discussing nefarious schemes. It really only requires people of a similar mindset acting towards a shared goal or set of tactics. Al Qaeda's a bad example, but it demonstrates the point.
