Pence calls his plan a "middle ground" proposal, a "no amnesty immigration reform" in which "securing our border is the first step."
This is fraudulent. At the heart of the Pence plan is amnesty. Illegal aliens here return to Mexico for one week with an assurance they can come back to their jobs. Down there, they visit "Ellis Island Centers" to register as "guest workers" and return with "work permits." The illegal are made legal and put on a path to citizenship.
The only difference between the Pence plan and the Kennedy-Bush amnesty is the one-week vacation employers would happily fund, as it means blanket amnesty for them as well as their illegal hires.

Rep. Pence couldn't have dreamed of a more favorable endorsement than to be attacked by Pat Buchanan.
Does Pat ever get tried of saying the same BS over and over?
I do like Mike, but this is a disaster of a plan. What is he thinking?
Pat Buchanan, the arabs' best friend.
The crass and craven buchanan/tancredo tag team bring out the long knives for good conservative Mike Pence.
Sure is nothing stealth about pat buchanan...that fat head and inflated ego of his probably has the radar cross section of the Hindenberg...another famous gas bag.
I wrote to Pence and asked him a few simple questions about his plan. Predictably, I received no reply.
One big issue is: Who will pay for the social benefits for the guestworkers once they are here? Will their employers pony up for their health care costs, or will they continue to show up at the hospitals and clinics for taxpayer-funded treatment? Why should US taxpayers fund benefits migrants who are here to provide cheap labor for US companies?
are some of your responders here not fireing on all cylinders? exactly why all this venom for buchanan? i notice none of his attackers are actually debating his points.....
When did you write him? I've noticed a slowdown in correspondence with my own rep. His district office tells me that two years ago, they would get about 200 letters and e-mails per day on average. Now, they are getting 1000 e-mail alone on a slow day.
The Neocons and Bushbots on the board are hung up on personalitiies, and think their favorite pols can do no harm. Buchanan makes that point exactly when he points out that Mike Pence is the perfect Trojan Horse for this amnesty bill.
Wrote to him about 10 days ago. My Congressman will generally reply in about half that time.
Bump
I like Pence a lot. I hope he runs for President in 2008.
But, he's wrong on this amnesty issue, and Pat Buchanan is right.
No , Buchanan was a man way ahead of his time . Just about everything he forcasted in his past runs for the Presidency have come to fruition and are staring us in the face as major problems . Like him or not , he's been right time and time again .
No...not worth the waste of time. Pence has a plan, buchanan has nothing but the same old whine.
Nice side step.
You can not dispute what Buchanan says.....LOL.
There you go.
