Freddie Adu is the best US hope, but he needs a lesson in humility. And playing in the MLS isn't going to get it done. He's got the raw talent, but he needs to play in Europe with other players have the same raw talent.

Isn't Adu something like 5'5"??? Much too short.

But he's a real little guy. I am not convinced he will be the Babe Ruth of US soccer.

The problem with US soccer is that if you are a world-class athlete (which is what you are seeing at the World Cup among top teams) you are going to be pushed toward the major sports that offer more fame and fortune than soccer. The process will be a long one and I think it leads for the time being through Europe where fortunes can be made.

I think the best American athletes (team sports) are in basketball. Get more inner city kids playing and loving soccer, I think will produce results.
