When I read the Washington Post article, I did not notice this reference to "never tried to cover up the shootings". What I'm wondering about is, where the shootings included in the reports made by the Marines at the end of the day? Do soldiers file such reports, the way police do? One would think it was mandatory, especially if civilians were killed for any reason.
If the Marines were required to report this incident and they did report it, I would say they are standing on firm ground. Certainly, the leaks so far seem to imply that there was no such report. However, this is something the mainstream media could easily overlook.
If the Marines were required to report this incident and did not, they're in a pretty difficult situation.
It's sad commentary, but I find that I now question all MSM stories about the Iraq fighting. They are masters of distortion.
There needs to be some kind of legal action. There is no accountablity for an organization like Time. They seem to be able to say whatever they want and get away with it.
Murtha needs to be removed from public office, and should be sued.

I do not believe the media, in general. Nor do I read the Washington Post. I was reference to the Washington Post article from the Free Republic. This article contained statements by the sergeant in command during the raid in question at Haditha. At the time, it was the only source of this information, as far as I knew.
As far as my sources of information, I read the Wall Street Journal every day. What do you do?
