As a VN era vet, the only similarity I see with todays conflict is the micro-management by Washington and the media. So long as the American people allow this to continue, I see small hope of victory.
Of course, my idea of victory is the eradication of islam, much as was done to Nazism and Japanese militarism.

I think the American people are more savvy today than they were during the Viet Nam period.

They have more immediate access to information. Of utmost importance, they have access to alternative sources of information, notably the internet and talk radio--uncontrolled by the Old Media propaganda machine. And the Leftists' Propaganda Machine (Old Media) has lost its influence.

As more and more people wise up, they see the Leftists, their Propaganda Machine, and their Political Machine (the Democrat Party) in the rear view mirror--and feel a shudder of disgust--and relief--come over themselves.

America is healthy, optimistic, and ascendant, unlike Europe, which is decadent, suicidal, and on the way to oblivion.

More and more, Americans see the Left for what it is: the utterly destructive disease of decadence that has doomed Europe.

More and more as they realize the reality of the Left, Americans want nothing to do with this odious, destructive, suicidal, and morally vacuous sickness.
