But a bigger factor, I suspect, was the harsh reaction among grassroots Republicans to the speech Monday night in which Bush made yet another plea for amnesty -- while insisting it's not amnesty.

While conservative/Republican reaction is STILL harsh, Kean wouldn't shift his position in space of a week in a Liberal state if the reaction wasn't equally as strong in the Dem grassroots. Not those like Kos that claim to be the grassroots, but the real thing.
