I'm not one for tattoos but a depiction of a GBU-38 with "Grab your ankles ,Abu Musab" written on the side would be appropriate.

Isn't that what satelitte guided is all about. The JDAM just an acronym for adding on the tech package with fins that go 'clack-clack' ???

It is because the bombs were set to penetrate first, then detonate.

No. No whistling sound. Just 'click-clack'.

The basic JDAM is GPS-guided. The link I posted previously discusses the addition of laser guidance to the basic JDAM kit.

"to ensure the target set was serviced appropriately,"

That General should be careful, he's getting Michael Moore-on all excited with that talk of 'serviced'........ That's the only way terrorists should get 'serviced' -- a JDAM down their frickin' throats works every time.

I asked on another thread: did anyone find the blast/dust pattern peculiar? It's almost as if the corners of the building were blastproof, but the walls were not.

I too thought it unusual but remembered that the construction materials of choice in Iraq seem to be brick and reinforced concrete.

I think the house's construction and its positioning within the date palm grove caused the blast to travel horizontally outward in four distinct jets 90 degrees apart.

I suspect this is because, once the bomb penetrated through the roof and second floor, it's blast would have had to lift the whole re-inforced concrete second floor of the house at once. Notice from the video, the blast that shot out the front of the house appeared to come from a two car garage which acted like a barrel. The blast was well outside the garage opening yet the walls and roof still appeared to be intact.

Like water, a blast tends to follow the path of least resistance.

Islamic architecture is noted for its use of symmetry so, the house may have been symmetrical which would explain the four jets.

Once outside the house, three of the blast jets went into the date palm grove.

Palms are designed to withstand hurricane force winds. To a blast wave, the rows would have appeared like channels. the canopys and trunks would have tended to direct the blast along the row.

Will he be allowed to identify himself? He will be an American hero

Whoever were had on the ground there to call it in and to laser "paint" the target are heros too. That's a pretty dangerous place to be, and they did an outstanding job.

And he still lived through both blasts...

...just long enough to suffer and to KNOW who got him.

The pilots designated the targets themselves I believe. That's the footage they showed when the house went boom.

This seems like a good time to throw in a pic of my favorite jet.

I read somewhere that special forces guys on the ground painted the target. But then again, every news outlet seems to have a different story.

I bet Zarqawi IS NOT being "serviced" by those virgins like he was told…

Me, too. I was at Kunsan AB, Korea. 1 mile by 1-1/2 miles. More F-16's than you could shake a stick at (won't reveal how many).

Night launch scrambles were best. Side by side, two by two, full afterburners, each pair not even lifting off as the next pair behind launched. A sight to see.

And hear. OMG. Hear.

Like poking a hornet's nest.

WOLFPACK!

Beatiful choice of words. I love the militay.

I really does have a nice ring to it.

I'm even thinking of adopting around my house...

"Honey, would you like me to ensure the target was serviced appropiately"?

Let's not forget the ammo troops who put these beauties together.

Proud momma of an Air Guard ammo troop in Iraq. I just know it was my boy's bomb-at least I can hope.
