Dixie Chicks Keep On Trucking
Official DC Website ^ | 6/9/06 | The Twits

June 9, 2006 MESSAGE FROM NATALIE, EMILY & MARTIE:

To our Fans: Any reports being made about the cancellation of our upcoming Accidents And Accusations tour are completely false.

We have known since March 2003 that our path in this business would have obstacles at every pass. We have enjoyed meeting each one head-on and we will continue to do so. Dixie Chicks fans are as active and dedicated as they come. This time around we are willingly feeling our way through unchartered territory. Things don't come as easy as they might have come in the past, and it makes each accomplishment more exciting and appreciated.

We will go where the fans are with great anticipation and no regrets. To find out (along with us) where that is, visit www.dixiechicks.com for all updates to Accidents And Accusations tour information.

Love, The Chicks

Q - Why did the Dixie Chicken cross the road?

A - To meet a Tennessee lamb

Epilogue - so they could
walk together down in dixie land

I agree - I thought that they were a pleasant enough modern country group before the fit hit the shan. I especially liked "Traveling Soldier" even though Natalie has that piggy little squeal in her voice that used to turn me off of Linda Rondstadt. Now I avoid them at all costs. Another "shut up and sing" case!

Boring 5-1 progression over and over. Those harmonies are cake. Check "Daylight" by AKUS if you want to hear really tight, intricate, spot on harms. My 2 cents. Like I said, no real point arguing. But that's my take.

In my view The Chicks harmony is good but not great. Allison and Union Station are an order of magnitude better.

hahahahahahahaa... if you don't regret basically insulting your entire fan base by telling them you are through with country music... then you are dumber than dirt.

I never liked Dixie Chicks music--even before they opened mouth and inserted foot. Never understood why they were popular. /Shrug.

Oh there is no doubt these women are talented.. though the lead singer certainly is undisciplined as all hell...

Oh well, they made their bed... they get to lie in it.

Sony spent more money promoting and making them than any act ever in the history of the label.... and they obviously got and still are WAY too big headed over it.

The were handed a golden opportunity, and they basically flushed it down the toilet...

Yeah, but music culture is fickle and teenagers love music that isnt' worth a crap artistically all the time. It just has to be 'in.' I mean most of the rap songs that come on the radio are awful and didn't take much talent. (And I love rap/hip-hop music). Being popular in the music world today has little to do with talent.

might buy an album in solidarity

It's my contention that they zoomed to #1 in CD sales because it is very easy for George Soros et. al. to buy oodles of copies.

But "selling out" concerts is not only much more expensive, but how do you explain all those empty seats at "sold out" venues?

AKUS are wonderful, aren't they? We are huge fans and have followed her for many years. Flawless--that's exactly what their live harmonies are. It's so obvious when they're playing that they are really enjoying themselves. They're looking around at each other and grinning like they're thinking "Can you believe they pay us money to have this much fun?"

This time around we are willingly feeling our way through unchartered territory.

Or "uncharted" even. Can't these rich celebs afford a friggin' proofreader?

Actually, it means they're making so little money on this tour they're flying commercial...

Soon enough, their music will be uncharted.

If you want a REAL country alternative to the Dixie Chunks, go to BACK AT THE RANCH - western swing, old time Gospel, and just good down home country music entertainment...TRUE Texans to boot!
