YOu know something... maybe this was the scenario...
Our troops are in the most dangerous area of the country.
Time and time again they show restraint are still able to achieve goals of engagement.
We make slow but steady progress in taking back control of the area.
Locals work to undermine our presence.
Some of our best soldiers are killed because of people like the good doctor there enabling the terrorists.
Our troops retaliate aggressively and in the process civilians are killed.
These civilians are taken, by our troops, to the hospital where the good doctor works.
War is hell...sorry but some time innocent and good people get hurt on both sides.
Having said...a clear message goes out to those on the ground that the Marines are here until the job is done so get used to it.
In summary, the doctor and those others like him who were the beloved puppets of Saddam are now in the minority. You are therefore either with us or against us.
Bottom line:War is hell and this happens in all wars. It's not premeditated.
Very well said.
Why War should be avoided at all costs. But is necessary sometimes. The Iraq War WAS necessary.
