(MONONGAHELA, June 8) Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey reacting to the news of the death of the terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, leader of al Qaeda in Iraq today released the following statement:
The forces of freedom have struck a great blow in Iraq: Abu Musab al-Zarqawi the man who personally beheaded Americans, and then broadcast those images on the Internet as a means to terrify innocents and recruit militant Islamists; the man who rose to lead al Qaeda in Iraq, and was considered by U.S. security officials to be just as dangerous as Osama bin Laden is dead.
I congratulate the armed forces of the United States and of the new democracy in Iraq, who worked together to eliminate this brutal terrorist leader. We should all take a moment today to say a silent prayer for the brave men and women of our armed forces, to honor them and ask for Gods protection over them as they continue to fight in our defense, and in defense of the freedoms now enjoyed by Iraq.
That will be difficult from half way across the country! ;*)
Absolutely not, you're right! :-)
I thought you may be interested in what Murtha's opponent is saying. ;*)
You're welcome!
Murtha, the "war hero" is quick to condemn. Has anyone heard any praise from him today for our troops?
Too bad she didn't say that this would NOT have happened if we had taken Murtha's advice...
But, of course that won't happen, she has class.
Thanks for the thread!
She has done internal polls, and although she wont release the results, admits that the race will be a "challenge" (it was a push poll).
As for the big pollsters, the race is considered a lock for Murtha and is not on anyone's radar, thus no polls have been conducted.
Why be positive when you can just assume the worst?
Diana Irey has a real shot at defeating Jack Murtha. Her only serious problem, IMHO, is a significant disadvantage in fundraising.
How do you know it was a push poll?
Nice announcement from Ms. Irey's campaign
Indeed it is. Much classier than the jig I'm doing over Zarqawi's bacon wrapped corpse.
The poll I go by is how many trolls infest the Murtha threads. They are directly proportionate to how badly he may have his @ss handed to him come November. ;-)
For Immediate Release

Murtha Statement on Al-Zarqawi
Washington D.C. - Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania today issued the following statement regarding the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi:
My compliments to General Casey and the troops involved in eliminating Al-Zarqawi. This obviously will have a significant impact in reducing the amount of violence in Iraq.
The significance of this event is also in bringing in Iraqi intelligence to coordinate the effort with U.S. forces.
With the appointment of Defense and Interior Ministers, we should be able to substantially reduce our presence in Iraq and redeploy our military outside of Iraq.
Praise? I report - you decide.
You are welcome Sleuth!
Part of me figured this Murtha was shooting his mouth off because he felt he was in a safe district.
But since you bring up fundraising, I can't send much, but I am definitely going to send something.
I would so love to have Murtha smacked down by the voters in Nov. with an unmistakable voice that trashing our military is not acceptable particularly by elected officials.
All contributions are appreciated. We all do what we can. Thanks for your support!
Because she said so. I guess you don't get Western PA radio down there, huh?
Isn't it amazing that he sees this event as boosting support for his plan for our troops to redeploy out of Iraq. I would ask him if he thinks we would have gotten Al-Zarqawi if our troops would already have been deployed out.
This guy has no shame.
