I wish blu-ray or HD-DVD would have some sort of casing that would go around the disk to keep it from getting scratched... like a floppy disk or something... sheesh, a 15-25GB disk thats useless if its scratched.
To: Echo Talon
They already tried that with DVD-RAM.
Everyone hated it and the format died.

They want you to scratch it.
There in the DVD producing business. They more you wreck the more you buy...

the format was DUMB! if players were made to accept the disks with cases people would love it im sure! especially if the cases could be changed easily if they become damaged.

There in the DVD producing business. They more you wreck the more you buy... They will probably be inserting subliminal messages into these new dvds that say stuff scratch your dvds when you take them out of the cases. ;)

The early CD Rom players could only be played in a carrier that had a sliding window like a 3.5" floppy.

he early CD Rom players could only be played in a carrier that had a sliding window like a 3.5" floppy. thats what im saying although, the disk should never be removed from the case unless the case has been damaged, then it can be replaced with a new one. it shouldn't be that hard to produce or cost very much either.

I hate taking DVD movies out of the case! SHEESH YOU ALMOST BREAK IT 1/2 TRYING TO REMOVE IT! Some cases are not that hard to get them out of. Then you got some cases that are so easy to get the DVD's out of that they fall during shipping and get all scratched up. Not sure which cases I dislike more.

I don't know about everyone hating it, but they gave me a blank one with my new DVD recorder, and the damn thing never worked!
It now sits next to stacks of perfectly recorded DVD-R and DVD-RW disks, collecting dust.

IMHO Blu-ray is helping to kill the PS3 both in terms of delays and price point. The console is devilishly painful to program for, and wasting time and money on a technology that adds no real value isn't helping (and no, I don't think the PS3 will be the consumer's choice for a complete home entertainment system). This may be Sony's last mistake.

im talking about a case something like this...
To: Echo Talon
Been done, everyone hated it.
No more )(*&#*@)$&)@#^$&)@#^$ discs-in-cassettes.

I'd buy it! Sheesh, i hate having scratched dvd's and cd's, especially burned cd's which seem to be easier to scratch. If they ALL came like that people would like it because all the players would accept the case as a standard.
