The hacks who infest DC can take their "path to citizenship" and stick it where the sun don't shine. These jerk offs are obsessed with cheapening American citizenship. Not to mention cheapening green cards which grant legal residence here. Immigrants wait years for them and the plan from the traitorous Senate is to shower them like confetti on 20 million illegal alien invaders.

Reward illegal activity and you will get more of it. Word is out through Latin America what saps and pussies we are.

The illegals could care less about a fine - most paid a lot of money to get here. They want to stay here and reap a reward for coming here illegally - namely, a path to citizenship. That is the real prize. So what Bush and the Senate is offering is truly amnesty, because the illegals will get the big enchilada

You have fallen for Bush's bait. Illegal immigrants want legal status here. Citizenship is a distant second.
FORGET CITIZENSHIP! It's a blessing for destitute 3rd worlders to live here illegally. The love living here illegally. It's like a 1000% pay raise. But they would also like legal status - a  green card. This is what they will get automatically under the Bush/US Senate amnesty

I've seen illegal aliens collecting soda/beer cans, begging on the streets, selling fake jewelry in the streets of Manhattan. They love living here illegally. Sure beats Somalia or Honduras

Nope. I'm just countering the amnesty-really-isn't-amnesty argument. I do agree that illegals also don't mind the lack of enforcement in this country as well.

Fine but the real magician's slight of hand comes when GW starts diverting attention to citizenship when what the illegals really want is legal residence here. And legal residence is what GW and the Senate are more then willing to dole out to 20 million illegal aliens. People around the world are waiting 10-15 years to immigrate legally which means to get legal residence here. Citizenship is a distant second for them

PRESIDENT SAYS..."Look, if you're one of these types of people that basically say, you know, throw them out, then you just use the word 'amnesty,' just toss it around," Bush said. "In order to frighten people, you just say 'amnesty.' "

I'm getting the impression that these kind of statements are not being put out for the public consumption of most informed, reasonable, conservatives and libertarians, like many of the people on this site. They must know (via polling and focus groups), that most are not being fooled by the misdirection discussions of what is amnesty...and what is not amnesty, in regards to the illegals themselves.

Rather, these talking points seem to me to be offered up for consumption by other, less informed, demographic groups.

Immigration IMO, is a huge weapon which Republicans could use to help fracture the Democratic base, peel off some of their key groups, and pick up millions of votes.

Two of the targeted demographic groups for this latest spin are, IMO, blacks and native born Latinos, who dont read FR and listen to talk radio, and which, ironically, are key Democratic demographic groups.

Not only will the WH and the RNC leadership not go after Kennedy and company...the President here seems to be offering an explanation, or a rationale to the Democrats and Rinos in the Senate who voted for the Ted Kennedy monstrosity bill.

Bush is providing, in effect, political cover for these pols. No wonder people are frustrated!

Draw your own conclusions folks...I think each day, the agenda, and its goals and motivating factors becomes clearer.

They probably don't listen to the White House either. Bush Is Losing Hispanics' Support, Polls Show Surveys Find the Immigration Debate Is Also Alienating White Conservatives

No kidding, eh? A lot of native-born don't approve of Amnesty for the new crowd.

BTW: When the PRESIDENT SAYS..."Look, if you're one of these types of people that basically say, you know, throw them out...

Doesn't that strike you that he is attacking the law as it exists now? After all, that is supposed to be what the INS does. In other words, rather than being an impartial enforcer of the law...he is an enemy thereto...and out of the same mouth he asks us to "trust" him.

The only problem is these same people are going to expect the GOP to deliver on all this talk of amnesty. It's also encouraging millions more south of the border to rush up here in the hopes if getting in on it and the most of them are going to end up voting for democrats whether or not they get their free pass.

Such encounters, carefully planned but unannounced, are part of a larger White House strategy to remind Americans why they once liked him so much and use his personal popularity to help sell a controversial immigration program.

He is only succeeding in increasingly irritating this American. This strategy also shows that the White House has no clue as to WHY Americans once liked Bush so much. We love him when he speaks from his heart and defends American interests and values.

No supporter of this proposal has ever produced, to my knowledge, a study or poll that supports the notion that the majority of these legalized "migrants" will end up voting Republican.

I believe there was a study done which showed that somewhere in the 30 to 40 percent range of native Latinos vote Republican.

The other issue is that my long term concern, demographic wise, is not the people themselves who are legalized ...it is the SECOND and FUTURE GENERATIONS...who seemed to be a key component of the recent protest marches, and who will be wooed and courted diligently by every union and special interest democrat group out there, not to mention the leftist and far left Communist organizations.

Thank you for emphasizing this important point. Many, many crimmigrants have no desire to be American citizens. But they are happy to reap the rewards of the vibrant economy created by our culture and values.

It's safe to say you're probably not the only one. There is no outpouring of support for any "comprehensive" plan that I see, in fact polls are going in the opposite direction of late. This strategy will work about as good as it did when he took his Social Security reform plan on the road.

they don't want to see Minutemen."

If not for the MM and concerned border citizens, We would have to leave it up to the Lib politicos at the border to tell us what's really going on. It's pretty clear that there's a lot collusion among the illegals and their counterparts on this side of the border.

I feel sorry for GWB---he got very bad advice on this. GWB feels very comfortable with Mexicans----as a Texas governor he was attuned to the largely Hispanic population. But it's hard to translate that experience into amnesty for 20 million people who are already a burden on the taxpayers as it is now. Amnesty would encourage huge numbers to migrate. That translates into an unbearable financial drain on our social services, education, our health care systems, and, of course, on taxpayers.

The amazing thing is that anti-amnesty is one of the few consensus issues that unites all sectors of the political spectrum----saw one figure that puts it at 90% against immigration.

It's the dirty little secret the media doesn't want to talk about, they almost never bring it up. That's because they like Ted Kennedy know full well the amnestied will sweep the democrats back into power for years to come.

The anti-illegal polls are translating into victories. Herndon, VA, Nebraska, and Bilbray in California all saw campaigns run against illegals. The GOP House gets it and why I don't think they're going to cave.

The really sad thing was only 27% of registered California voters cared enough to vote yesterday. With thqt kind of appathy the illegals will overtake the State.

The wall Mexico has built against oil exploration is higher than any wall ever conceived of by our border patrol. Further, the standard of living in Mexico, if all the new oil royalties were not looted, would be as high as ours.

Any foreign involvement in Mexico's oil industry would be an unacceptable affront to Mexican sovereignty and self determination, doncha know.

You can ask only so much of a nation... /s
