You're right of course, but it's a tricky situation.

I believe a popular President would go for some vote in Congress and a very unpopular President (current situation) would be hesitant to act on his own.

I believe Bush's current advisers are of the type that had his father stop Desert Storm prematurely. Which resulted in today's mess.

Bush's clock is ticking. I don't believe any of this is some master plan. But, I still hold out hope that even as his term runs out, if it's not to late, he goes for broke and does something, realizing history will never forgive him (as he has himself implied) for allowing a nuclear armed Iran.

I'm sorry but this all boils down to moral courage and leadership.

When the stakes are a nuclear-armed radical regime determined to destroy Israel and/or control the flow of the 57% of the World's known oil reserves that the Persian Gulf contains, you do not broadcast to the World that you are about to strike and give your enemy advanced warning.

You just DO IT.

A true and courageous leader puts his country first and his popularity and personal interests and ambitions far down on his list of priorities. Any man or woman who does not have such intestinal fortitude does not deserve to be President.

You said it more clearly, but that's my point.

We know it needs to be done. None of us know to accurately predict how it will turn out. We are looking at cues, at the current evidence.

Some build a fantasy of what they think will happen, some look at what IS happening with concern.

We will find out the result in the not too distant future.

I am not optomistic that Iran will be stopped. I hope I'm wrong.

I won't grind on you for your about not pre-empting an attack on Iran because they threatened Israel. My opinion is this:

1) Iran has directly murdered hundreds of American citizens, diplomats and military personele over a thirty year span.

2) Iran is the global terrorist leader who has threatened not only Israel's destruction but ours. We are called the "Great Satan" for a reason. Do you feel they are neutral towards us?

3) Their is plenty of evidence linking Al Queda to Iran. The perception that Iran has no involvement with Al Queda because of miniscule religous variances of Islam mean nothing. Iran is responsible for supporting the Mahdi army in Iraq operated by Al Sadr, a know Iranian supporter.

4) Last but not least, notice the price of gas and oil lately? That is a direct effect of Iran's radical comments on destroying Israel and saying they will enrich uranium no matter what.

Iran hasn't but individuals have. I'll grant you the hostage crisis of the early 1980s but our support of Iraq during the Iraq/Iran war (thereby supporting Saddam Hussein all those years) was quite the payback

2) Iran is the global terrorist leader who has threatened not only Israel's destruction but ours. We are called the "Great Satan" for a reason. Do you feel they are neutral towards us?

So? A lot of nations call these United States names. Including North Korea, who has nukes and operating nuclear power plants.

3) Their There is plenty of evidence linking Al Queda to Iran. The perception that Iran has no involvement with Al Queda because of miniscule religous variances of Islam mean nothing. Iran is responsible for supporting the Mahdi army in Iraq operated by Al Sadr, a know Iranian supporter.

Your point? No Saudis? No Syrians? Jordanians? Quite a few Arab nations have 'sent' insurgents into Iraq. As for involvement with Al Qaeda, this wouldn't include any meetings in Eastern Europe does it?

4) Last but not least, notice the price of gas and oil lately? That is a direct effect of Iran's radical comments on destroying Israel and saying they will enrich uranium no matter what.

Well not really. There are quite a few reasons for the rise in the price of gas.

Hey it worked for North Korea....Carter got the Nobel prize because of it....

Bingo! You said it. Same thing I told my friend yesterday.

It's the Carter Plan for North Korea.

Instead of stopping them from building nukes we give then the equipment money and tell them how to do it.

There. Let that be a lesson to them.

Now if China will just threaten us once more and make us mad we'll show them to.

We'll give'm Taiwan and see how they like that!

Our country it seems is in the hands of the Three Stooges.

The Republicans, the Democrats, and those who vote for either. The last includes me I'm sorry to say.
