June 7, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Conservative rabble-rouser Ann Coulter created an uproar among 9/11 victims' families yesterday after she charged in her new book that a group of "self-obsessed" politically active widows are enjoying their husbands' deaths.

The razor-tongued blond polemicist made unflattering remarks about the high-profile widows who liked to call themselves the "Jersey girls." In Coulter's latest book, "Godless," she calls them "harpies" and the "Witches of East Brunswick."

You might want to spend a bit of time in the Middle East and find out who the Arab Muslims hate and want wiped off the face of this Earth. I'll give a starting clue, Jews, Gays and most Blacks!!! My grandmother was a socialist-communist. She was not a party member or anything like that. In the ideology she advocated, not in her daily life. In her daily life she acted like a land-hungry Polish peasant's daughter, trying to find a way to squeeze every nickel, so she could get enough money to buy more land. The Polish peasant's dream, to own their land.

When I was growing up, my grandmother was sinking into the illness that would ravage her mind. Since she didn't always make sense, I later asked my father, who could remember her when her mind was clear, if that was really what she believed. He indicated, well, yes, mostly, though she hadn't acted that way in her daily life.

My Dad, her son, was a solid conservative, lived his life that way, in spite of his mother's ideology.

I see conservatism as an ideology that can be learned and preached, that can obtain converts. My grandmother was kind of one, a very incomplete one, since she never came to grips with the contradiction between her ideas and her daily life.

I have friends who grew up in the Soviet Union before the bust up. They mostly have learned how to live their daily lives in the U.S., they have or are becoming American citizens, as are the other members of their family here. But their political ideas are unformed, and I talk to them about political topics, try to make them understand the differences between conservatism and liberalism, and why the former is better than the latter.

I look on it as spreading conservative ideas like seeds, and realize that every seed will not grow, but that a new crop will still arise. And this new crop will make us stronger.

We will never convince everyone, but we can convince more.

I didn't say your comment was anti Jewish, I said it was stupid and the type of comment that gives life to the stereotype that conservatives and sites like this are populated by bigots.

Agreed. She's crazy like a fox when it comes to publicity although I do think the way she made her point was a bit "over the top." Watching the libs go into orbit has been amusing if nothing else.

In the United States as in Poland if you OWN land then how can you be taxed on it.. Then; you are just "renting" the land.. from the true OWNERS..

Most "conservatives" are as confused as non conservatives are.. Except non conservatives see no problem with givernment owning LAND... The word conservative is a nebulous word.. Means only a different kind of socialist.. And most are oblivious to what socialism really is.. Socialism is Slavery by Givernment.. And most conservatives merely want a kinder gentler Slave Master.. as you seem to be "preaching"...

Conservative means "more of the same", and the Slave Master loves the concept.. any threat to the Slave Master will be from RADICALS not conservatives.. You might make a note.. Unless you are percieved as a radical by the Slave Master you ARE NO THREAT..

This is the kind of story that I imagine would truly warm Ann's heart, so I am RE-posting here it for emphasis:

Let me tell you a story.

I am a German living in Berlin, and I don't remember how I discovered Ann Coulter, but I remember that the first book of hers I bought was Slander (imported from Amazon USA). When I got it, I couldn't put it down and took it everywhere I went. So, one day I felt like having a big cheeseburger and went to the Hardrock Café (There's not much of a choice over here, short of McDonalds and Burger King).

So, I sat there alone, eating my cheeseburger, drinking Kilkenny, and Ann's Slander was lying on the table. The waitress was a young American girl, and she immediately recognized Ann's face on the cover! At first, I thought I had made a mistake and that she was going to scold and deride me for reading such evil rightwing propaganda, but far from it:

She curiously picked up the book and asked me what it was about: "Is it about her life? Or what?"

We talked a bit, and she told me that she knew her from TV.

It was quite apparent that she didn't even know what a liberal or a conservative is, but somehow, she admired Ann anyway: That cool woman, so pretty, so smart, making such a ruckus on TV, kicking everybody's ass!

Later I lent the book to several English speaking Germans (and one Brit), only one of them being a die-hard conservative (the Brit). Most of them don't know the first thing about American politics, but Ann's style got through to them, anyway: They all loved the book. Clearly, this woman had something important to say, and they all wanted to learn more about it :-)

So, yes: Her polemic does get through, and she actually doesn't repel every "soccer mom."

We'll never win the war against the Left by playing to a set of rules dictated by the Left that only conservatives must abide by while leftists remain exempt.

Coulter breaks the precedence, and you resort to exactly the same allegations and strawman arguments that the Left themselves use when they can't debate the facts.

Your first sentence sums up the problem quite nicely .

Coulter breaks the mold and refuses to use the liberal's rules .

The physcophantical rantings illustrating the hatred, cruelty and vitriolic bitterness which are being used by some posters here as they use the left's rules to attempt to put out the fire of true conservatism are appalling.

It's ironic how they use what they dislike about Coulter's tactics ten fold worse than she did. At least she used facts and truth while they just attack.

They have bought into the left's arsenal of misquoting and twisting the well aimed precise comments of Ann Coulter and altogether miss the deep dwelling satire that she is using so well to put her points across. These people must hate Mark Twain.

Each one of their rants brings more attention to the truths that Miss Coulter is exposing.

That's one reason I don't fight them too hard. The more rope they acquire the better.
