June 7, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Conservative rabble-rouser Ann Coulter created an uproar among 9/11 victims' families yesterday after she charged in her new book that a group of "self-obsessed" politically active widows are enjoying their husbands' deaths.
The razor-tongued blond polemicist made unflattering remarks about the high-profile widows who liked to call themselves the "Jersey girls." In Coulter's latest book, "Godless," she calls them "harpies" and the "Witches of East Brunswick."

She still has her column in "Human Events".
Many of us have memories of events longer ago than "months", and think it useful that historical/political analysis of what most of us still consider relatively recent events, be presented in book form.
"The "9/11" widows lost their privacy when they entered the political arena to bash Bush and to laud John ("I served in Viet-Nam") Kerry."
You forgot the "and I got three purple hearts" part of the song. :)
Funny, I hear Democrats describe Bush with the exact same phrase. Go figure.
ann is an upper echelon intelligence...most men simply feel too intimidated by such women and go slinking off to blonds which eptomize the 'blonde' jokes...
Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.
I'm not being contrarian. I really do feel Coulter is detrimental to conservatives.
But, like Howard Stern, she's got her demographic; it turns out that it's the same as Stern's demographic.
what about the views of the other 2996?
But typical Coulter. She's made a career of being a caricature of a conservative.
Someone finally tells it liket it is about the Jersey girls. The way they acted like a Democrat cheering section during the 9/11 hearings was a national disgrace.
That's not what I meant. Coulter's use of inflamatory rhetoric underscores the outrageousness of the present Liberal debate tactics, which is specifically designed to stifle speech. The solution to bad speech is more speech, which Coulter has provided. Hopefully, the national debate will begin to undercut the "sacredness" of the icons of suffering, which Liberals have been weaponized. If so, this will provide cover for our elected officials, who may become less likely to shrink from the debate championed by the untouchable sufferers.
I agree. I saw her interview, and she was shrill and detestable.
Nothing more, nothing less...
..Many of us here are just as tired of the Jersey 'widows' as Ann seems to be....
..we are voiceless.....she isn't.
Now whether that sells books or not, so be it....
...but it's refreshing to hear 'our side' for a change.
Ruppie is far too busy kissing hildebeast's rear to worry about FoxNews. I agree with you, however!

But to say they are enjoying their husbands' deaths is over-the-top and takes away from all of these valid arguments. Because it is too easy to refute.
The worst part of that single quote is that it lets the Jersey Girls play the victim again.
She does, along with Pat Buchanan and the demented Paul Craig Roberts. As a former National Review columnist, she joins the ranks of Joe Sobran and Sam Francis as one of the only three columnists to ever get kicked off that publication's staff.
It's all relative.
Don't forget a lot of those good people supported the president and his agenda towards the war on terror. Sorry I do not like the Jersey girls any more then any body else in here. But I don't like the idea of Coulter banking eveybody together. I am a stanch conservative, love the president, the country, my troops , and of course my flag, but Coulter is too off the wall for me. I for one would like to know who she thinks is good enough for America. I pay taxes, I fly my flag , get in a lot of fights with liberals over the war and my president, but I still think I would not be good enough for her. She is just one country club conservative I could do without knowing. Thank I don't know her. If I did she would know what a real conservative could do to a phony like her.
"These widows DID have a unique view and position because they were related to the actual victims of 9/11."
And it ends there. They offer no unique insight other than the loss of their husbands. Guess what, there 2800+ other families that lost family members. However, the drive-by media didn't court them, treat them as royalty and trumpet their whining and crying.
Why did they treat the Jersey girls that way? Because they had a very liberal point of view that matched the MSM. So, the MSM media used them to get at the Bush administration. And the Jersey girls new that.
I would have used the language that Colter did. But her points are correct. The Jersey girls allowed themselved to be used.
