The Vatican keeps raising its voice a little higher each time, but no one seems to be listening... The wording seems to get stronger and more urgent with every document.

I'm a non-Catholic and I see and hear the progression.

This new pope has been annoyingly sensible. He scores again with this statement, it seems.

We are created in the image and likeness of God. - The Holy Bible.
"God is a family" (paraphrased) - Pope John Paul II.
The destruction of the family is nothing less than suicide. - Me.

It seems that way to me as well, but I live in MA. My perceptions may be skewed.

What a marvelous phrase! The symbolism is striking! It really is moving. Scary too, at first -- an eclipse being an absolute enigma in nature that casts the world into darkness.
Then I remembered that all eclipses pass...and fade into memory...and become the merest specks of footnotes in history...and the percentage of time the eclipse has its day is....infinitesimal.

I propose a compromise with the homo's...
they can marry each other all they want... as long as they do it inside the asylum with all the other lunatics.

I like your tag line. The album you cite by Pink Floyd is still one of my favorites. So many memorable tunes...
Turning, lying in the sunshine,
Staying home to watch the rain.
And you are young and life is long
and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run. You missed the starting gun!

I wonder if this implies that our hubris is so huge, we have eclipsed God in our own minds by our self-centered, egotistical importance. That, to me, would portend a calamitous fall is impending....

"the eclipse of God."
What a marvelous phrase! The symbolism is striking! It's visual! Sight words convey more than others.
