"grip safeties removed or rubber banded down?" Why on Earth would anyone do that to a 1911? What reason would they have for doing it? Because in the heat of a for-real gunfight you might not have a sufficiently-correct grip on the gun to depress the grip safety. With the result that the bad guy gets the first shot
Many people judge the thumb safety plus keeping your damn finger off the trigger is sufficient. My Glock has neither grip safety nor thumb safety

Good evening.
I've been in for-real gunfights and I have always been lucky enough to do things the right way, in time.
I admit to not liking Glocks, primarily because of ergonomics but also for the reason you like it. Many people I know who shoot 1911s train, physically and mentally to do it right. Too many people I know who shoot Glocks don't and too many people have NDs with them because of the absence of a safety. I'm used to procedure and follow it. The Zen of pistol shooting, eh.
I also find that aircraft-carrier-deck of a slide to be distracting.
That said, if anyone out there has a Glock that they want to give away, I promise to give it a good home.

(no surrender no retreat, well, maybe retreat's ok)
