"Chain-links are easily cut with a bolt-cutter."
That's right and a pollero can get a (Chinese) bolt-cutter for about $10.00. A `cyclone' chain-link fence only slows them down for a minute or two.
If you recall photos of the steel-panel fences along the San Diego border, they had ridges pressed into them, for strength I suppose. But the ridges ran horizontally and made perfect steps.
All you need to scale a wall is a ladder, so the need for sensors and a `quick response' BP, backed by the Guard. If they are able to scale the wall, the we start talking about razor-wire and other deterrents.
But the invasion should then slow to a `trickle', the polleros will find other work when their `clients' ar frustrated, and we will then be able to say our border is secure from our "friends and neighbors".

Yep. However, the best way to slow the flow down to a trickle is to make it very unpleasant for an employer to employ someone without genuine registration, checked against a Fed database.

It's my understanding that the 'up to 6,000' troops will only allow the free-up of approximately 500 additional Border Guards to do actual border security duty.
Shameful......... equivalent to spitting on a fire.

The soldiers with the 116th Construction Support Equipment Company will hit their work sites by 5:30 a.m. during their two weeks of duty. So how many will we have on the border at any given time, a few hundred?

No good. The chain links are easily cut with a bolt-cutter.
Worse yet. Here is a picture of what the National Guard is erecting.
UPDATE National Guard Begins Construction Of Border Fence in O'Neal Valley
Armed with 50 year old well casings, railroad rails dating back to the turn of the century (yes that century) landing strip mat from World War II and scrap iron, National Guard engineers are tasked with doing the impossible: Secure a 21st century border with 19th century technology.

The whole NG / fence thing is a joke.
The Gov will never build anything that can't be easily overcome by illegals.
