The ties that bind 17 suspects? ANALYSIS | `They represent the broad strata of our community,' the RCMP says. Jun. 4, 2006. 07:15 AM SURYA BHATTACHARYA, NASREEN GULAMHUSEIN AND HEBA ALY STAFF REPORTERS
In investigators' offices, an intricate graph plotting the links between the 17 men and teens charged with being members of a homegrown terrorist cell covers at least one wall. And still, says a source, it is difficult to find a common denominator.

And still, says a source, it is difficult to find a common denominator.
But there's more. In the
print edition, they seem to attribute that comment to the RCMP. (via lgf)

Darn. Still trying to get the hang of those nice colors.

It's easy to get a common denominator; just raise Islam to the 17th power.

"And still, says a source, it is difficult to find a common denominator." All 17 of these men are muslims, what other common denominator do they need? Sometimes the blindness in this crazy world can be humorous.
To: Paladin2
Well, it couldn't be Islam. Islam is The Religion of Peace, don'tcha know... These 17 must have been murderous terrosist assholes
in spite of their allegiance to Islam.
What titanic force could have cause 17 peace-loving Muslims to betray their faith so? Truly there must be very powerful socio-economic forces at play, here. Not to mention the hopelessness that comes with being an oppressed minority.
That's it. It is the seething racism of your average Canadian that drove these poor men to such a desperate act...

The common denominator is that storefront mosque.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Also note the authors of the article--any common denom with those three perhaps?

The common denominator may have been 06/06/06: the date they were to release Muslim hell on the Great Satan, the west.

I have long had a suspicion that everyone in the black robes are not female. What a perfect way for Arab men, even known faces, to waltz around in (almost) plain site.
The first two in this photo - those eyes look male to me - and very wary

Ah, the tie that binds is non-assimilation..While the urge of Canadians not to breed their own successors is their right, you would think that they would, out of self-preservation, import folk of similar values and attitudes. They had the world to choose from, Eastern Europeans, Indians, Hong Kong Chinese and South Americans, even Mexicans. People, that probably not from the start, but possibly in a generation or two, would do the country proud. In a nutshell, those people would assimilate. But no, they went for the cheapest of tickets, Muslims. And Canadians, along with most of the civilized world, will pay the price..

Sooner or later, even libs will come around. Keep your powder dry, until then. And beyond.

BHATTACHARYA . The name, judging from an entry from a Google search would be Indian, from a Hindu tradition. The others, maybe Muslim, maybe not. I wouldn't want to speculate.
