The Murtha comments were nearly criminal in my estimation.
The thing that stuns me about that, is the misunderstanding of the guilt average American's felt over how VN soldiers were treated. There is widespread suspicion that we really won that war, but somehow we didn't listen to the right people.
All something like this does is shore up that feeling. Most Americans are perfectly willing to give these guys the benefit of the doubt...and it is paying off in spades as they are cleared.
It's not that it couldn't have happened...we all know that. But my God, we give people like Michael Jackson the benefit of the doubt, why would we not extend that to US Marines? To be honest, I am beginning to wonder if Murtha is working from a guilty conscience of some kind. It's just weird.

Murtha is being paid to say the things he does. Or, as you suggest he's being blackmailed.
