I was discussing issues with a coworker once. He was a Democrat and may have assumed that I was one likewise. After he outlined some of his views, I interrupted and said something like, "well, isn't that socialism?" He paused reflectively, stroked his beard, and said "Yeah, but we can't use that word; Americans are ready for it yet." His response was stereotypical, but he really said it. I find his words to reveal many things: a) acceptance of socialism, b) presumed superiority over Americans, and c) a readiness to be dishonest. The Soviet Union fell and has been proved to have been fraudulent from beginning to end. But nothing has changed in the minds of leftists who vote Democrat.

"well, isn't that socialism?" He paused reflectively, stroked his beard, and said "Yeah, but we can't use that word; Americans aren't ready for it yet." he's been trained well - parroting the same phrase I heard in the DSCO (Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee) meeting some 25 years ago!
Scary, on the face of it.
Also - the epitome of elitism...which is the definition, really, of socialism. These people think they not only have the right, but the duty, to rule because we are obviously so beneath their understanding of how society should be run.
They believe we need to be ruled as apposed to governed...ruled by them, as they are so far superior

But nothing has changed in the minds of the leftists who vote Democratic.Bump! I had a similar experience here in Minnesota.
This is what should be a warning caution to all of us. We see some massive denoument of the liberal/socialist mindset blow up in their faces...and they refuse to confront their failure.
E.g., as one example, the Soviet Union's 75 years of bad weather for its crops. The socialists are absolutely resistant to learning, or should I say, "relearning" , to honestly describing reality. They are zealots and creatures totally of their 'utopian vision.' Dennis Prager really nailed them when he described theirs as the most dangerous of mental types. The distopias of their own making could be right in front of them, and all they see is the 'shining path' they are on to their paradise.

Eleanor Roosevelt once said something like, "The Communists are just liberals in a hurry," referring to the ones in the Soviet Union.
